Repainted the shifting console and polished up the gauges, getting ready to reinstall but I found this mess of wiring

Test fitting the rebuilt dash trim, success. I pulled the steering column to see why there is so much slop in it and it seems like there are some missing spacers in the bottom. Also destroyed the lock cylinder trying to remove it ( it was already munched by thieves) so I ended up ordering a used column that comes with a key so I’ll consider that a win.

Figured out the electrical issues, alternator power wires were completely severed but looked intact, replaced the ring terminals and everything is good to go. I charged up the AC and started tackling the rust. Removed roof rack and front and rear window. Wire wheel and por-15 to stop the rust.

Interior is back together. I got a used steering column from an lx450 or late model 80 on eBay and swapped out all the switches and stuff, it came with a key and ignition lock cylinder so now it is complete. Also pulled the front bumper and already ordered a new front bumper. Tried out some borrowed 33’s and they fit and don’t rub. Windshield and rear window are out for rust repair.

The electrical issues were caused by the alternator wires becoming too hot and breaking off completely. Fixed those with some new crimps and wires, charged up the ac and everything is working now.

Got a base coat of por 15 on the bumper, will top coat with gloss black Chrysler black.
Also got struck down by the cruiser gods for showing off my ac, the compressor started screaming on Monday, so I’ll add that to the parts list.

Threw on the new headlights (thanks to mud classifieds) and got some top coat on the bumper. I’ve finished the preventative maintenance and am only waiting on the front calipers. After that I’ll be up and running.

how hard was it removing the roof rack? I need to remove mine to fix some rust thats forming and I am thinking I am going to leave it off because I have a yakima one that I keep on it.
Well the roof rack used aluminum studs so they completely rust welded themselves to the steel and then made rust holes. I had to drill out the hardware, destroying the roof rack in the process.
