Awesome thanks, I will check into that. I am not sure what I want to do at this point, but I know I will think of somehting. I have been trying to find some cool rubber mats I can get.

Well what are you looking to do and why? Are you planning on installing the raptor liner to get rid of heat, deaden sound, make the interior spray and wash? What do you want to do ultimately with the rig?

For me, I will be removing all that crap and installing something like Secondskin, Dynamat, or some other sound deadener to allow for better interior quietness and some heat reflection.

For the "rubber" mat, I found this on amazon and know that Lowe's/Home Depot sell something similar in smaller rolls.
Amazon.com: Diamond Plate Rubber Flooring Rolls, 3mm x 4ft x 10ft Rolls: Home Improvement

You could also take a look at McMasterCarr for some of the rubber mat.

Well I want to make it where I would wash out the inside if I wanted. I also wanted to seal the metal so no rust would be able to start. I know that the floors are known for getting rust spots in the rear. Sound deading would be nice. Thanks for the links and info I am going to look more into the rubber, I like that for short term fix.

Driving the FJ60!!!!

Well my Girlfriend and I were able to take the FJ60 out for it first Maiden Voyage since I have owned it. I was able to pick up the Tag and insurance.
Here is a couple things I done to get it ready.
1. My Buddy Wayne and I were able to use the Drop Method and Adjust the Carb.
2. Blocked off all none needed Vacuum lines.
3. Fix my choke cable.

From there I would have to say that she run very well. I know I have a lot of work coming up and I am ready to get it going. The FJ60 has plenty of power I know that many people say how much dogs they are but I would have to say for a 5200 pound SUV it moves pretty good. I don’t know about you but I would not want to go 80mph in it anyway. From here I have some house and yard work to do. Going to have to put the FJ60 on hold for a couple weeks even though I might get some new sway bar bushing as well as some new Shocks bushing. Will keep everyone posted.

Mudding for the first time

Well guys i was able to get her running good. Decided to go to my buddies house and take her mudding. Here is some pics of her Dirty a little bit!

Well I have been driving the FJ60 for a couple weeks now and everything seems to be doing good. There has been a couple things that I had to fix on her but overall been great.

1. Power steering pump replaced – Was able to pick one up from O’Reilly’s with a lifetime warranty!
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/A1C0/215608/02869.oap?year=1983&make=Toyota&model=Land%2BCruiser&vi=1276466&ck=Search_power+steering_02869_1276466_1876&keyword=power+steering&pt=02869&ppt=C0031

2. I had one of the hoses from the Oil blow out. Had to replace that and fill back with coolant.

3. Adjusted the Valves again.
4. Got my Smog Rail Plugs in from Man-a –Fre, all I have to do now is install them.

I am in the process and I’m thinking about doing another tune up on the FJ60. As you know this will in tell changing the Dist Cap, Rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires , was also going to replace the fuel filter. Is there anything else you guys can think of that I should do. I need to also check the diff fluids and make sure they are good.
Here is what I am thinking on the Tune-up, please tell me what you think. Is there any other products you would recommend?

1. Ignition : Distributor Cap - BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1746892 – $5.69
2. Ignition : Spark Plug Wire Set - BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1755935 – $19.44
3. Ignition : Distributor Rotor - BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1737882 – $2.36
4. Fuel/Air : Fuel Filter - BECK/ARNLEY Part # 0430812 – $2.76
5. Ignition : Spark Plug - DENSO Part # 5305 {#IW16} Iridium Power - $6.67

I really like the Beck/Arnley Products, everything I have ever got from them has been great. But most of all if someone has used other products that have work very well I am open for suggestions please! Also with the Iridium Plugs, does the 2F like them? If I am not going to notice a difference between a NGK Vspark and the Denso Iridium then I don’t know if I want to spend all that extra money.

Thanks for all the input, hope everyone is having a great week.

Very nice truck, 500 dollar!?
What happend to: "I know I paid a bit (*) too much, but ... " ?

Thanks for the parts# to help others :wrench:
You know first time wheeling means rolling the truck to test the tank EVAP operation?
(*) like 3 times...

Yea, it does really well in the mud, my buddy who is a jeep guy could not believe the way it would pull through anything. He has a mud pit in his back yard and it took some serious mud to get it stuck.

Here are some more pics

So how is the gutted smog pump working out for you? The rig I am picking up blew the pump a while back but the owner was able to find a shorter belt that would bypass the pump. Figuring that when I get it I will do new belts pretty quickly and figured "while I am there" I might as well pull the pump, gut it and just turn it into a relay/pulley

So far it is working great. I made sure when I pulled the smog pump apart I greased the rear bearing with lots of grease, working well so far! Just clean the hell out of it. I only expect to get some time out of it. Eventully I want to go to the smog pump delete Pulley.

Yeah I will eventually get one of JimC's adapter pulleys but for the time being I will just gut the pump. What grease did you use when you put it back together. My PO said he was able to find a shorter belt that would bypass the pump all together but wondering if that has affected the engine at all. Since it is not being used I will just pull the pump and then gut it.:wrench:

You can't bypass the smog pump pulley. It is the tensioner for the belt that runs the waterpump. That's why an idler pulley exists to replace it during a desmog.

Ok so this is what I thought and maybe I am misunderstanding the PO on what he did but he said the pump was shot on mine and he used a shorter belt to not have to use it?!:hhmm:
Just emailed the PO to clarify what he did.

Yea, I have seen people get a smaller belt and then put it around the Crank Pulley and then around the Water pump. Dont recommend that. I just used reg bearing grease on the smog pump and then put it back togather.

Does Anyone know how to get a hold of Jim C. I need my carb rebuild and would love to give him the Business. I have email him 3 times now with no respnse. Not sure. I hope everything is ok.

Try posting up in his Vendor forum spot and see if he responds. I know the man is busy and last I heard the wait was something like 6wks in line for the rebuild.

Yeah I will be replacing everything I can ASAP when I get it home. Already got a rebuilt p/s pump from another member, will then devain the smog, pick up some new belts and hopefully have enough to take care of the rest of the desmog shortly there after.

Any words of advice for devaining the smog pump?

When I did mine as you can see from the pics, I was able to clean everything, I took the whole thing apart. Be very careful because the bolts on the back that hold everything together are Allen heads and could strip very easily since they have been seated there a while. Be patient, don't get in a rush.

Ok I see what you are talking about. Did you have to soak any of the exterior screws/bolts with PBBlaster or did they come out pretty easily?

Also, the small fins, below, did that one break off or something?

Yes, that was the the fin that was broke off jammed in the smog pump. The bolts on the out side I did not use any PB Blast on it but i am sure it can help. Just keep in mind that when you are taking the bolts out the back of the pump to be careful they will strip out. Make sure you use the correct size allen.
