holy resurrected threads batman! problem since 06!?! I thought the 'LC whisperer' could fix (or re-engineer!) anything! :flipoff2:

The problem comes and goes; but works safely. I hate to admit it but burning metal is my first love so when there's something on the list to cut and burn that comes first :D. And I hate anything brake fluid related.

Ok as long as we're at it with brake pedals... my brake pedal will stick "down." I either have to wait and extra second, or pull it up with my toe. It's like there's no spring attached or something,, I have tried lubing those hinges down there and that actually improves things for a bit, but then it returns. It's more annoying than anything, anyone have any tips on where else to look before I dive further into it?

I could bungee it to the steering column and that would fix the problem, but that seems a little ghetto for a 100 series. :hillbilly:

Is the pedal return slow or not at all? Have you inspected your calipers to be sure you don't have one or more sticking/locked pistons?

I assume you've properly bled the brake system? Other than that it would seem your symptom would be BB/MC related.

no, that's a great idea. it will help with trail braking going into corners too.

try disconnecting the linkage completely from the pedal. if it still sticks, it's pedal/hinge/spring related. if it rebounds correctly then something is sticking in the MC.

This are the exact symptoms I had. It was fixed by replacing the MC plunger....$50 or so part. I was getting pretty good at the "toe under the pedal trick", but it became annoying and when someone else drove my truck, the freaked out.....

Alright cool, thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll start by just bleeding the system, it's time anyway.. though that's delayed a bit while I resolve some more pressing issues, like all the wheel studs I broke yesterday. :bang:

Tim, Chris...mine's doing the same thing with the pedal sticking at a light or something. Doesnt always do it but it's pretty common. I know at least one other person not on the forum that it's happening to as well.

bluecruiser, what kind of labor/time was involved?

Loud,

Follow that writeup...took me longer than two hours, but I had no writeup or FSM, just started taking stuff apart and got stuck on a couple parts....

FYI, I had my brakes bled twice by the dealership to try to resolve it before changing the plunger out...

Bled the system tonight, shoved about 1.5 quarts through it. Pedal feels normal now, bounces right back up without delay. Spresso FTW!

Hopefully that's it, I'll hold off on anything else until when/if the symptoms return. Loud let me know if you want a hand bleeding yours?

Great news. Glad it worked. Was there any problem in getting all of the air out of the system after having it completely drained?

didn't drain it, just did 10-12 pumps of the pedal through each caliper, starting in back. Didn't even do the LSPV.

This has been an issue with my LC since I got it...and I think I remember others here have experienced the same...the first pump of the brake pedal acts like air in the line (additional pedal travel) and the second pump of the brake pedal feels the way its supposed to. I have thoroughly bled the lines/cylinders numerous times to no avail.

Spressomon - any resolution you can point to on this? I have the same exact issue. It's the single most annoying trait of my LC. I have chased down the wheel bearings, bled it once and had the dealer look for sticking calipers.

I'm inclined to the MC rebuild kit, but like you, am not a fan of anything involving Brake Fluids.
