FOOD FOR CAMPING

@Dimples is doing deep dish pizza Friday night in camp.
Ron will have to post anything he needs for the pizzas. Please bring stuff to contribute.

I also know Thomas wanted to do mac and cheese and Jason and Cleo wanted to do chili at some point during the weekend.
Still planning on making chili and cornbread!

@aztlctina says we need fruit and vegetables (such a good wife and mother). So I will commit to bringing fruit, vegetables, and hors d'voures
I was thinking of a baked potato bar? Jut need a head count to know how many potatoes to bring...

As we have lots of dinner options I could make one or both of these for lunches? They would take a little cooking time (1 hour or so) but could be done!

Planning to test out the new volcano on these? ;) Headcount sounds like 25ish confirmed, 5-6 others are maybe?

can't wait to try the Volcano out! And if one fuel source doesn't work we have two more to try  I got a 20 lb bag of potatoes from Costco so I will bring them all.

Make sure you guys grab a power strip or some other outlet splitter so you can plug all this stuff in. I think the speakers will require power too, at least mine do.

My power thing has two plugs plus USB. My speakers plug into USB for power and I will have a power strip with 3 plugs so 4 plugs total should be enough?

OK for my own sanity, if no one else's, it's probably time for an updated food list (if you haven't figured it out yet, I like lists): :grinpimp:

@Dimples Dutch oven pizzas (Friday night)
@Chrismanjs bacon, bread etc for his French toast masterpiece Saturday
@Saddletramp eggs, bacon, sausages, bread (extra for Saturday, enough for Sunday and Monday I'd say)
@LongDuck 5/17/24? Cheese Mac n Cheese (Saturday or Sunday dinner); Peach Cobbler for 2 nights!
@Stepmurr 40 hotdogs, mustard, ketchup, relish, buns (lunch probably Saturday?); tons of fresh, authentic tortillas!!
@rctoyota Chili & cornbread (Saturday or Sunday dinner) Baked potato bar?
@Otter pancakes! (tentative Sunday breakfast) Also s'mores (@brices123 kids will appreciate this, I'm sure)
@brices123 healthy foods: fruits, vegetables, assorted fancy hors d'ouvres
@Abigail steak & chicken fajitas and the accompaniments (Saturday or Sunday dinner); 750ml (or more) of real maple syrup (Canadian, for Steve)...Because a full wine bottle of syrup is always necessary; will also bring some chorizo and additional eggs to add to breakfast one day (Monday?), it's great mixed with eggs in a tortilla (if people like spicy foods)
@D1EZEL Caramel apple pies!

Did I miss anyone? So it looks like we probably have enough dinner and breakfast foods for the 3 days, and at least lunch 1 day. To simplify things, I'd say everyone maybe plan for lunch on their own the other days?

One other thing we'll need is bowls for the chili! Edit: @ftbshop has is covered here!

Is there going to be any off-roading mixed in with this three day buffet?:grinpimp:

Have we set the 'mud record for longest pre-run thread yet? :slap:

I was just thinking that!

I dont know if we will have time with all that food ;) LOL But I definitely want some off-roading to happen!

@Abigail I greatly appreciate the list! I don't think one 12" Dutch oven of chili will be enough for 30 unless we are having other dishes that night as well? I'm more than happy to make two batches but would need to borrow someone else's Dutch oven.

I am bringing 2 with me and my stand etc. you can borrow one or both of them.

I was thinking we could try to plan so Thomas' Mac n Cheese was on the same night as your Chili, too, if that works for everyone!

I have been conspicuously absent from the discussion as I worked like a dog in the background trying to rearrange business and personal conflicts so that I could join this most memorable overland expedition but alas, I have not been successful and I need to pull out at the last minute. What a spectacular plan you all have developed for this coming long weekend, I hope everyone has a great time. Stay safe!

Confirming the Friday morning details are intact.

Thanks

For the group Friday morning, I suggest that we also meet in Suerior at the Circkle K by 10 am. If anyone wants some heuvos rancheros I'm thinking 0900 at the Los Hermanos restaurant and then up the street to Circle K to gas up. It will take us 2.5 hours to get to the campsite from superior, so lunch and camp set up by 1 or 1:30.

Any other thoughts?

Looking forwards to the adventure

Guys, I have to admit something I've been ashamed of for a long time: I've never seen Rocky Horror... :deadhorse:
Me neither your not alone.

Pm me with whatever i can bring. Feel like a free loader with all this food planning
