Very, Very nice Rig. Good to see a fellow Colorado 100 looking so nice.

These rigs of the month are certainly pushing me towards more mods.

Awesome! Can you show a picture of how you mounted those 240's, I just picked up a set and was thinking of building riser out of aluminum.

The 240's are great lights!

I currently have the 240's mounted with a few washers giving about 5/16" rise. The washers are temporary before I get spacers. The 5/16" rise is close but not perfect; the lights are pointed a few degrees (maybe 6-12 degrees?) upwards. I think 7/16" to 1/2" rise would get you a flat surface. There is a 6/16" spacer to the left of the lights. The OD of the washers/spacer is about 1.5". I will probably go with a larger OD spacer that covers the entire surface area of the 240 base mount and paint it black.

I have not had any vibration problems with the washers, but then I have tested them offroad at night. We'll be doing some night offroad driving this weekend, so I will get a chance to see how well this temporary setup works.

On a side note, I really like these lights. They are much better than the Hella Rallye's I have used in the past. The changeable filters are useful and convenient. I have the 'spot' and 'combo' filters. For whatever it's worth, I will probably put a Barri Nut on when I go to install the spacers even though the body housing unscrews from the base in a few seconds.

looks very nice it would be nice if u paint the bumper same stock color

Thanks!

I will probably end up painting the side trim panels white someday. I like simple, but I do like the pictures I have seen of silver bumpers and white 100s.

Nice Tom.

What do you mean you "overheated your ATRAC"?

After some prolonged ATRAC usage in the snow in 4L with the diff lock on, I got a repeated VSC chime and the traction control stopped working - no TC chatter and 2 wheels spinning. In addition, I was rather stuck. The traction control kicked in again when I tried 15 minutes later. This has happened twice.

Thanks Tom,

I was messing around with mine last night...I bought some longer bolts from Home Depot and made some TEMPORARY spacers out of .75" PVC pipe and to get the lights up high enough so they can be adjusted I had to go about 1.25". Of course I don't have the exact same bumper, so that could account for a difference is spacer height. I was thinking that the following spacer that comes with the Slee diff drop wold work just about perfect...

Ah gotcha. That's normal. Keep from overheating the brakes.

Looks like a pile of junk, you should sell it and buy a Yellow 94 D-90!!!!!! and you know you can't hang with an 80!!!!!!!!!!! :D :flipoff2:

Great looking truck! My list keeps getting longer and longer...

Here is a console picture after Slee's locker install. I had them install an aux lighting switch while they were in there. Both the DAC and aux lighting switch have backlighting.

Take note of the appropriate positioning of the DAC switch.

This is normal for traction control since it essentially uses the brakes to function. That's why hardcore expedition users (read: guys who cross the Sahara) don't like traction control. It's a weakness to them due to this problem.

BTW, very cool truck, and nice OEM look on the controls above!

2003+ ARB Combo Bar

Tom,

Nice rig! You're not letting any moss grow on that thing. I'm in slow motion on my mods in comparison.

What's involved in fitting the 2003+ ARB front bumper to a pre-2003 LC?

Thx, Keith

Where is the ARB air compressor switch?

Nice truck!
Cheers,

Very nice build.

I have had experience with traction control on two previous vehicles. I previously experienced what I thought was brake fade, and subsequently degradation in TC performance, but I never had a TC system quit on me in similar circumstances. I would think TC is more of a liability in really arduous conditions like the Sahara. I had a TC bypass mechanism for one my previous rigs because TC would bog down the truck down in the sand.

Thanks for compliments!

After doing a few buildups spread out over a couple years I figure I was just going to jump straight to the end. Well, close to the end. :). In retrospect, I have the slightly illogical remorse of not buying '98-'99 and SAS'ing it. But the grass is always greener on the other side.

To fit the 2003+ ARB I followed ARB's directions line for line and everything worked out. The front frame horns that mount the front cross member need to be trimmed to be level with the bottom of the frame. In addition, I recall there are 6 holes you need to drill. 2 of them are into the frame for mounting the ARB bumper mounts, and the other 4 are for pinning the ARB bumper to the new bumper mounts. In all of the steps where you drill or cut, there's something to use as a good guide.

However, the one thing you should be aware before you make the purchase is that the gap between the body trim in the front and the bumper is larger than if went with a Sahara or earlier combo bar.

Cheers,

It's the DAC switch. BTW, very nice website. It was one of the contributing factors in helping me decide to try out and buildup an LC.

Excellent way to hide that switch, you guys are really driving me to look into a front locker with all these ultra clean installs.

Peace of mind and lower overall driveline stresses (locked/unlocked). Just do it...you know you want to! And add the 4.88's and 315's while you're at it :D.
