secret squirrel locations. Great place to have good brakes :)

The sky was crying, or weeping with joy. One thing for sure, the weather at this location was like the center of the universe, one hour the winds would be from the west to the east, then it'd switch 180 degrees. Then it'd be calm and still... Totally HEL3 level.

A full two hours after the rain first started, we had full-on double rainBROS. With 180 degree coverage on the first 'bro.

The light on the rock, and the rainbow coloring the red sandstone was too much. This was a real show, just for us, and the bikini babes in the houseboat who weren't even looking. Boggled? Yes, we were. Alex's shower was good too and much appreciated to wash off the red dust.

Too bad, because I doubt that shelf road trail will be safe even another year or two. It's sketchy now. And with the rain, it had us thinking about the uphill to come. Fortunately that was 2 days away.

Great thread, Cameron. Keep it coming.

Our minds are now fully and completely boggled.

Jason and Alex proceed to whip up a batch of that famous North Carolina BBQ Coconut Chicken Curry.

The only thing that could even improve the situation was if we had a fire.

But there are no trees out here, and no firewood.

Maybe if we summon a fire...

We did see a hilariously huge log back in the canyon that would be a riot if we tried to burn it, but there is no way we could haul that beast back.

However, I am convinced that I saw some leftover wood at some of the campfire rings that line the road going back.

So I set out on a mission. beno goes too, because his mind is so boggled he has to do something.

We are driving back further and further and are not seeing any signs of firewood. I must have been hallucinating in the epicness earlier (HOLY EPIC Level). There are some dead tree-bush things, but they will burn quickly and require a lot of work to break down. Maybe as a last resort.

So we keep driving.

And then we see it.

The mother-of-all firewood firewood that we spotted earlier. It is taunting me this time. We must burn this mammoth on the beach tonight!

I get out my tow strap and choke that sucker up. I fire up the Vortec and we four-wheel peel out back to camp, stopping to grab every dead bush we can fit on my roof and in beno's truck.

It turns out that @jfz80 is a fellow arsonist AND a landscape artisan, and we come up with a plan to ignite this hoss. Not just ignite it, but to burn it epically, beautifully, and completely. No survivors.

Like the story that has to be told, or the Israeli supermodel at the Bowl & Fuel in Blanding, you don't just walk up to a log of this stature and set it ablaze. You've got to approach it slowly and use an appropriate pick up line.

And we celebrated them like the great tribal hunters returning with the fresh kill. Just one more in endless epic moments

lol. Hey man. Why just light a fire when you can design and build a holy epic level 3 en fuego experience . There were decisions to be made and plans to be completed. Clearly it is within the means of this collective group.

I don't want to get bogged down on the details, but we are at fully Fawkin' Mind Boggling Dude, which comes after after Awesomocity and is equivalent to Epic Alert Level V (Alert Level IV on the Holy Epic scale)...

...can you go any higher? I hate to bring math into it, but I considered Fawkin' Mind Boggling to be the max, like infinity.

Is 'en fuego' what comes after infinity?

Have we just stumbled into another dimension?

We need to think about this. This could be an epic discovery.

Now that you mention it, you may be right. :hmm:

I had simply thought "en fuego" was just a saturation level of epic awesomocity we desired that evening. Perhaps we did cross dimensional lines and it was simply a byproduct of the journey that spurred us on that eve....

You know, to make sure we were generous enough to share our experience and totally blow the minds of the houseboat party ...... As I'm sure they were quite boggled already when they saw a caravan of cruisers rolling up for sunset on what they had to have assumed was their lil private slice of heaven over 1900 miles of shoreline in a remote desert canyon environment.

Plus we needed to make sure they understood the first night's fire was just a practice run :grinpimp:

We DID just kind of roll in like we owned the place, claiming that entire peninsula as our own territory.

Paul even planted the flag :grinpimp:

There's NO WAY we can top this. There's like no firewood out here.

By the way, it is now totally dry and there is no evidence of a storm or double rainBRO, and the weather is picture perfect...
