I have the Mac tools fault finder. It’s amazing and you don’t need to poke holes in the wirings insulation. You either connect it to the circuit via the fuse or clip it onto the end of a suspect wire and it turns that wire into a low power radio antenna. Then you can follow the wire in question with a “wand” until you find the break. It works like magic😉
It’s amazing because you don’t need to open up loom or pull interior panels to find a broken wire.

I’ve got a Shindawa commercial weed wackier that I bought for cutting Scots Broom close to 15 years ago. It’s amazing and still runs like it was new. I love their stuff.

FYI I’m looking for a hedge trimmer and it will either be you sell me your one or I add to my cordless Milwaukee collection😂👍🏼.

We’re putting in a 450’ hedge at the place we just bought. So lots of hedge trimming.

So far all these old Shindaiwa trimmers have only needed a carb kit and they were good to go. I’m not prepared to sell my running one, but do have a second with a broken fuel tank that you’re welcome to have a look at. I found a replacement tank off a Shindaiwa line trimmer that worked great to fix mine. I don’t know if it’ll run with a carb kit or if it needs more.

I’ve got a Shindaiwa bush cutter that’s amazing… I borrowed a string trimmer head off my old Stihl trimmer for it and it’s almost scary, 1.8 hp line trimmer.

The old Stihl trimmer was also made by Shindaiwa and it’s pretty awesome. It’s light and about 1.2 hp… it’ll cut through smaller things up to about 1/2”. It’s also a bush cutter, but not the beast the Shindaiwa one is.

They are around and available. 450’ is quite the hedge. If it’s taller a pole type trimmer could be worth it’s weight in gold.

Echo and Shindaiwa are now owned by the same company. Shindaiwa used to be the higher end line, but that may have changed.

Ya the weedwacker I was talking about is actually a brush cutter with a trimmer head on it. It is amazing. I'd be interested in that broken tank trimmer... May be able to 3D print a new tank for it or something.

This looks like what I replaced my tank with.

Amazon product ASIN B008G4IZGI
I’ve never had my parts trimmer running. I traded som parts I couldn’t ever use for it. I’d recommend rigging up a tank to it to see if it’ll run before investing into a fuel tank for it. I was told the engines last, but getting the carb working can be the real issue.

Is the mac tool fairly effective? I know the electric testers you wave over a wire were frowned upon when I was taking the home inspection course.

Even since buying this Can tire Lincoln on special my wants, needs, accomplishments and skills have gone up exponentially, I keep telling my self that anyways.... I waited 7 months for it come on special FYI. Its the 180 240volt mig pack. Weld anything up to 1/2". I bow down to the can tire s*** box.

Yeah, when you come right down to favourite, or most important tool...where would most of us be without a welder?

Probably not driving old Landcruisers.

My blue friend Miller can fix just about anything made of steel… or make it if it doesn’t exist.

It works very very well. Much better than tge electrical testers because its not looking for electrical …magnatism …(🤷🏻‍♂️🤔) Instead its following a radio signal running down the wire.
We spent three days trying to find a broken wire in a rock truck that would intermittently apply and unapply the parking break. Borrowed one of these and had it fixed in close to two hrs.

Bet you could have some fun with this!

No idea how well it works but there might not be much left of that hedge after going medieval on it!

Well damn, coolest limb trimmer I've ever seen. What's the original base tool? 18V grinder?

Won’t be a favourite, but will be handy…

Next to the Grass my neighbour was claiming was four feet tall last week… still haven’t cut it (partly out of spite).

It was too good a price to pass up. The PO was moving and no longer needed it. The filter housing was removed for some reason, and subsequently lost. I expected that it would need some attention, however, fired up on the first pull once there was gas in the tank.

$25 for the pressure washer
$33 for a new filter & housing
——
$58 total out of pocket

A little bigger than my other… and it was cheap enough that I wouldn’t worry about carrying it in the back of my 40.

Although once I get to know it I may like it a lot more than my Husqvarna 136. Back when Shindaiwa sold 488s, it was a $1000 saw. Their reviews are excellent vs the 136 which is only an ok saw.

Edit… compared some numbers. The Shindaiwa is a 10.2 lb, 3.5 hp saw with a 20” bar vs the Husqvarna 10.2 lb, 2.2 hp saw with a 15” bar.

The Shindaiwa is the same weight and 50% more power:.. sharpened up the chain and it cuts well. I suspect it has seen some rough use since some of the teeth are half the remaining thickness of others… & the front handle has been banged up some. One day I’ll either replace the handle or straighten it out.

Nice!

There was a thing on the 70’s forum about JIS bits. I was asking around and finally decided to
do something about it. One screwdriver is $19 US. Same on Canada. Both on Amazon. $35 Canadian.
I wanted multi bits. This has two of each quick release for drills. Two of each for magnetic hand Snap-On ratcheting
screwdrivers. Bit expensive but less than anywhere but the cheap junk at Midland and KMS which probably don’t have JIS anyhow. So mute point

I'm torn between my index finger and thumb or my middle finger as the best tool I have, hmmm?

It’s impossible to stay on point isn’t it? Like kindergarten except all the kids are retarded.
