I bought 3 pairs of these falken 315/70/16, just so i can rotate and make them last long as possible.. down to around 11-12 mpg

Do you mean 315/75/16 or 315/70/17 ????

Went to DT and had them put 60 in per tire, My theory is "Less Rubber hitting the road = better MPG". Driving around its a little more stiff, but will be Hauling the Rig from Dallas to ALB tomorrow and hope to get back up to 9.5mpg in the coach.

Just got my 315's on this morning. They ride awesome and are quiet. Really smooth. I had my buddy's drive it. They have the duratracks and Km2's in the same size and also 80's. I put 150+ miles on them today through the bay area rain and they were great. The tread is pretty aggressive for a AT.

They measured out at a little over 34.3"+ as advertised, and are about 33.5" mounted with vehicle weight. I havent checked the tires pressure yet. They took not too much weight to balance besides one of my tires that the tech said the rim was slightly bent, he re-clocked the tire and still out of balance so they had to add 4oz of weight. Oh well.

Finally put about 50freeway miles on. Very slight hum. So far I really like them

I went to Discount Tire today and got all five of mine mounted. (285/75-16). Based on previous comments I had them filled to 50 PSI. The first thing thing I noticed was how quite they are compared to the 265 Michelins they replaced. Slighly more effort required to turn from stop or very slow speed but nothing major. It was pouring rain the the vehicle felt very confident at all speeds. I met my son at the dry lake for some fun in the rain too. (Dry lake bed is soooo slippery when wet. So much fun. A drifter's dream.)

Does this tire (285/75-16) fit in the spare tire location with no issues?
Never heard of a 285/75/16 that did not fit on the stock spare tire location.

Did you have to put the lift before you mounted the tires?
Or would they fit without the lift?

Fit no problem... Even with the 18-year-old, sagged-out, stock suspension.

This is true, but unwise. A smaller contact patch means less traction in rain and in high speed corners and the center of the tread will wear faster than normal. Although 65 PSI is the maximum pressure the optimum pressure depends on the load. More weight = higher pressure. 32-36 PSI is optimal for a normal weight cruiser.

8mpg seems abnormally low. I average 12-14 with 315/75/16s (after correcting the odometer for the larger tire diameter).

I believe the mpg he gave was for his tow vehicle.:)

Interesting finding, I tow this behind my coach. I usually average about 9.55 miles per gallon. Discount Tire said I should run them at 35 PSI but they go up to 65PSI. I took their advice. 7.82mpg. WOW. I've since put 50psi in noticed a difference right afterwards. I may go to 60psi and monitor the tires from the system I have. Tires usually go up in pressure after they warm up... about 5-10psi depending on weather.

I thought he was talking about the 80 because the tires are on the 80.

If he was getting 7.8 mpg on the coach, then I would say that he is doing much better than average.

I usually get 9 to 9.5 towing it. But right after I got the tires, I left it at the 35psi. Thats when I got around 7.8mpg while towing it. Today I went from Dallas to Amarillo *WINDY so we stopped here. got 9.2mpg with a side - semi tail wind at 60psi. Thanks for your concern pinhead, appreciated. I didn't even consider the odometer correction. I've yet fill up the tank and test, but will look into that because I'd like to get at least 13-14mpg. cross fingers. I will keep it at 60psi for now.

I do better than average for a Class C that is 37' long. I think the rig would get 12 if I wasn't towing the 80

Looks like fun, did you rub at all? I've yet to rub the tires, though I think flexed out they would in the front.
