Congrats on the 60! Have you ever been to a Seattle Cruiserheads meeting? Second Tuesday of the month, bounces around North, South, East side. PM me and I can get you more info if you would like. Jumping in on the 60 and it looks like it’s coming along nicely.

Hey there NookShneer! I've yet to attend one of those meetings, but I really want to! @EmanC was telling me I should go too! Looks like this month's meeting will be on the 12th. Is there a location set up yet?

Not yet. Typically we get one the week prior. Think this month will be on the east side.

Do you have front shims under the leaf packs? 2-4 degree shims make a huge difference with any front lift (leafs or shackles), and will most likely cure the 'wandering' issues.
No shims yet, I was going to do the shackles first and see how the caster felt after that. I also want to remove the plastic rear spring pads and the spring hats and drive it before tossing some shims at it.

New dome light with LED bulbs.

Those pictures are taken at night without a flash. The dome lights are now very usable. I used “warm” LEDs from SuperbrightLED.com.

I had to bend the tabs in the housings to make these work. if I were to do it again, I would measure the length of the original bulbs and get a shorter length.

Replaced the Weber with the City Racer carb and snuck in a Remflex intake and exhaust manifold gasket.

Every manifold bolt was finger tight when I went to remove it all. I suppose that’s better than the alternative.

PM me if you want the Weber. Its relatively new and works great.

We took our first long drive in Falcor yesterday. Long shake down runs are always enlightening. Roughly 200 miles. It was fun!

First we drove to Seattle REI.... Like any well respected Land Cruiser owner, to pick up some new hiking boots. About 20 miles, all is good except the new carb dropped the power compared to the Weber by A LOT! I'm not sure why but flooring it is the only way to drive it now. I've reached out to @FJ40Jim to see if perhaps the jetting needs to be adjusted on the new City Racer carb. Perhaps getting the distributor recurved at the same time would help. It's a pretty major reduction of power.

Then we headed to Coupeville to grab some lunch and then Greenbank to get some pie at Whidbey Pies and finally to Deception Pass do a little hike at the state park.

Whidbey Pies are amazing. Marion berry to bring home for us, blueberry for my dad and a frozen apple for Thanksgiving.

The hike went well. We saw an 850 year old Douglas Fir tree.

The drive home was interesting, first the wind started blowing hard and then the rain started, also hard. Halfway home the circuit breaker for the blower motor blew and the windows started to fog up. The wipers are okay but the linkage is very worn out. I think eventually I'll replace the linkage and upgrade to the 4Runner wipers.

I just looked it up and learned if you stick a paperclip in the little hole of the circuit breaker, it resets it. Easy enough... I'm curious as to why it blew in the first place. I'll see if it happens again I suppose.

I need to turn the timing down a little.... it pings a bit in 4th gear with part throttle. The recurve might help too. I have roughly 12 degrees of timing currently.

The suspension is atrocious, it has "heavy" springs from SOR. I'm going to take out a leaf to see if I can make it a bit softer. Any ideas as to which leaf to start with?

Good story. Thanks.
The leaf to remove is the second or third one I think. Or carry more weight.

You will love the 4runner wiper arm upgrade. Might do the 80 rear arm too as it can be a pita to find a blade for the stock arm.

Replaced the lights on the front bumper. The ones it had were not salvageable, but these are near duplicates of the old school 6" halogen KC's originally on it. Wired them to one of the aux switches on the dash and a relay. I'll aim them when it gets dark... which around here in the Fall will be like 6pm.

When it doubt, throttle out!
I'm avoiding learning autobody skills at this time. But if I don't get ahead of the rust I'm going to have to become an expert. 60 life.
Yeah no doubt, me too. I have a few rust spots on this rig that need some attention as well. I'm not excited to do it but it shouldn't be too challenging. A hole in the rear quarter just behind the wheel and the lip of the rear hatch seal on the passenger side. I'll tackle it this Summer.

I'm also going to try some paint less dent removal on this rig, there are some pretty good sized dents that I figure I can at least make a little better.
