Best way to take that 6sp box would be with the 15BFTE still attached.

That jump from first to second seems less than the h55f. First on the five speed is 4.8 and second is 2.6.

Can't see it happening for myself but if one of those transmissions fell into my lap is put it to use.

For a ratio comparison I run an Isuzu box with these ratios:

5.788:1
2.998:1
1.594:1
1.000:1
0.776:1
5.798:1 R

5th gear is 2000rpm at 100km/h. The 1-2 jump is perfectly fine. 1st gear is a creeper and 2nd is used for starting off even when towing.

I would like to swap to this Isuzu 6sp:
1st 4.987:1
2nd 2.870:1
3rd 1.684:1
4th 1.000:1
5th 0.728:1
6th 0.626:1
rev 4.774:1

In combination with lower transfer case gears (LT230 lets you change both high and low gearsets) it'll give me a slightly lower cruise rpm, similar 1st gear but closer gaps between 3-4 where I want them.

If Rosco doesn't want to speak up he has zero obligation. He's contributed enough to this forum that he can pick and choose what thread to participate in and which ones to stop participating in all together. A lot of people had doubts and never came forward after the fact and they never had to. So why should Rosco? I'm sorry but his greater number of posts isn't enough.

Calling him out though isn't gonna win you any points on this forum or thread and certainly isn't going get a 500 word apology.

If he comes back, awesome. I enjoy his input. If he doesn't that's his right and he has dozens of other threads on the go that he laying down sticky worthy data.

Hijack over, please continue as I'm really enjoying this thread.

its all in jest mate relax

how did you come to the conclusion that is a factory HZ-T?

You're right. I should have said that supposedly there is one for sale...

So in the end a lessen for all??
Don't beleive everything you read on the internet, theres still another world out there,so we didnt see it on OZ so it doesnt exist.
Amazing whats out there beyond our "little square boxs" on the net......
I see similar scenarios in the prospecting game, member of a couple of forums, some have trouble beleiving of good finds unless pics etc are posted online or the person involved is not online......

never took pics
never took specs
just held and went "what is the difference between this and the HDT turbo?"

I imagine that was the one about to be shipped to me. You have my permission to photograph and give it a good look over if Yan still has it, doesn't mind and hasn't wrapped it for shipping. I think it was going to be posted in the next day or two.

Yeah I don't doubt it's extremely similar if not identical albeit for some minor difference that gives the assembly a different part number. All I care about is showing Toyota here that its an OEM turbo designed for the 1HZ, so they will then accept to do my engine rebuild with a Toyota backed warranty.

this is what Yan sent me, I assume he doesn't mind me posting it.

from what i had checked before, the manifold, oil/water pipes and turbo gasket kit are all exactly the same as the 90-92 1HD-T coasters produced up until they were replaced by the 1HZ-T and as the 90-94 HDJ80's and in some cases other HDJ100's, so I imagine any difference would only be internally or maybe the wastegate setting, time will tell.

I'll be removing my intercooler and setting pump to standard 1HZ-T settings on install to dyno (although I will have 3" straight through exhaust to start with), and then add/dyno the improvements stage by stage to measure the benefits, but it will take me a while to get through the rebuild stage, so if I'm the only owner of one of these so far don't hold your breath!

Well I have received the 1HZ-T's turbo, I'm not going to open her up as I need it " as received from factory" so I get a guarantee on the up coming rebuild by Toyota, but if anyone thinks they can identify some of its characteristics from external photos I'm happy to snap and post them. Otherwise it will remain a mystery until I get her running and on a dyno... in March.

what is the turbine housing number for curiosity sake?
Chances are its identical to the 1hd-t but I can help verify this.
