Some great info you found Damien..now where are all those non believers now like Rosco
I wonder if they feel like some humble pie ?:D
i just reread the thread for fun and there's a couple that might be hiding in corners, just as there's a couple who were dodging excrement that could rightfully scream a big 'i told you so'.

poor old Rosco, maybe had he unchecked the 'completely built unit' box a few years ago, he mightn't have been so ardent in his faith in the EPC error hypothesis.

shrug
i am sure Rosco is a big enough bloke to admit we were incorrect in our beliefs. i needed proof and Akella had me pestering him to either come up with some proof or it didn't exist. YanWiki found the unicorn and DP provided the example. I am convinced enough to actually try and build one.
'nough said.

@damienperu thanks for finding a legit footprint of 1HZ-T unicorn

@BOOSTED80 pictures that i posted were for Caetano

I will post pictures of 1HZ-T parts as they come.

Here is the picture of the belt for that big 1HZ-T alternator

To crushers and damienperu, will you be building something as close to a factory 1hzt as possible or just bolting a ct26 and cross over pipe of the 1hdt on to the side of a 1hz? Serious question and not trying to start a flame war as am very curious about the 1hzt internals.

I believe the 1hz-t has 1hd-t rods, special pistons to suit larger gudgeon pins.
This is a essentially a lower compression 1hz

Thanks ForealBoreal, would be good to see one of these built from scratch. Now just need some more info on the I.P.

i will be working with Akella (goes by YanWiki or CruiserAddiction now) and we will be building from the bare block up the 1HZ-T.
i beleive YanWiki has already ordered all the parts and they should be here next week. we have 3 blocks ready to go. the injections pumps are in getting refurbed and fitted with boost comps. the heads are sitting at the machinist being magged and rebuilt.
the biggest cost so far it that bloody factory turbo ... damn.
not sure but YanWiki might be sticking one into his gasser 40. that with the H55 and 3.70 gears should make for a very enjoyable ride.

I'm in the same boat with parts from Yan, complete factory 1HZ-T turbo setup with 1HZ-T pistons and gaskets and 1HD-T rods and rings as per 1HZ-T specs. My only variation from 1hZ-T spec will be the 1HZ pump with 1HD-T boost compensator and FMIC.

Does the 1hz-t pistons come with an added Alfin insert over the stock 1hz piston?

I would love to see a comparison between the two rods and pistons.

Here are some more 1HZ-T parts

Bracket 12511-17020 and special bolt for that monster alternator:

so will this alternator just bolt up to say a 70 series with a 1HZ?
12 or 24v again? Not like i need one as i just bought a spare.

That is the picture of 1HD-T rod or 1HZ-T

I will try to take a picture of 1HZ rod for comparison later

@ForealBoreal it is 24v 85A Bus alternator. In theory it should bolt straight up, but you need new bracket and belts. We will find out soon as i just received that bracket last night.

From what I understood the factory pistons are discontinued. Diesel Power Parts (through Engine Australia) make a both a pre and post 98 piston with al-fin insert (my post 98 pictured below), Hypatec (through Precision International) do one for the pre 98 only that i can't comment on, at least that's the way it stood according to those companies in July 2013.

Do you have the turbo in hand? Curious what the differences are to a 1HD version.

I would also like to know what differences are in the cylinder head (if any), or camshaft profile change .

Akella, are the part numbers different from the 1HZ to the 1HZT ?
