it’s a transitional F block what we call the ‘f and a half’ engine or F.5

Concur. No external oil pressure regulator and the oil pressure sender where it was on my 12/'74 block...

—f.5 has the better oiling of the 2F coupled with higher compression -hence the better Mpg than a 2F.

—2F is a better balanced engine- great if your wife needs to do her nails on the fly or drive around the block with panties on the antenna to dry them out.:steer:

—f.5 is better for pulling stumps and other non panty related things. :)

—Mark is partial to F.5

—Marshall did a Big Gay 2F build.

So to sum up the differences.....

If you prefer letting the wife drive / or anodized purple parts and don’t pull a lot of large stumps —->2F might be a good “lifestyle choice”.

Pighead, BugsnBikes,

Thanks for the definitions and the wife commentary. Too funny.

This clears up so many questions i've had about my engine since buying my 74 in Nov. Went out at 1 am after reading this to find that i have an F.5. Built in 9-74. No panty drying for me i guess. Thanks for the thread, very helpful.
