Full of Reese's and Blake's, we finish the trek to the VLA. One of the radio telescopes is positioned right by the road, so everyone immediately screeches to a halt to take pics. #ETAF immediately perks up at the thought of phoning home...

We head around to visitor center to get a closer look.

We skip the formal guided tour, take a quick walk through the center, then head outside for the walking tour, where you can get up close and personal with the ‘scopes.

The cool part was we were able to watch the entire array reposition the antenna into a different position/heading. I’ve been going to the Array every year since 2007 and had yet to witness a full array repositioning.

It was WAY cool watching them reposition to inspect a different part of the universe.

Something very weird about both the array and its location and it’s proximity to the Trinity test site.

When i got to the truck, i was missing 6 beers, a pack of reese’s and my “speak and spell” was ripped apart.
