Just completed 1000 mile round trip from San Clemente, CA to Flagstaff, AZ the home of NAU for New Years. What a beautiful area. We have a 60 with a H55 5 spd and still only got 278 miles to the tank. A less expensive long range tank would sure be great. We hope you continue the project JIm.
Thanks,

Yes, I am still working on this. Well, working on the truck. Pics to come.

edit:
The engine in the project truck has expired sooner, rather than later. So, a new engine is being built out of junk.

Started with this severely rusted block:

Which got tanked, bored 1.5mm, rod exit hole stitched shut

And is now assembled to look like this:

Got a header for it, currently waiting on intake manifold to get crack repaired. (When I told you it was junk, I meant junk!)

still interested... but curious about the headers you are installing... if it suits you would you post brand and whether they are ceramic, painted steel or chrome.

thanx

witch side of the block was repaired?
Thanks
Jonathan

Guys,
Since there is interest, I'll start a thread on "junkyard 2F buildup" in the 60 forum.

The new tank is going in tomorrow (sunday). finally.

The truck (organ recipient) is doing well after recent heart transplant (engine swap) and hip replacement (knuckles & brakes). So it is time for the big tank.

It's in!

OK, the 38+ gallon Ford fuel tank is installed in the FJ60.

Filler neck works, gage works, and it hasn't fallen out on the ground, even after putting $90 :crybaby: of petrol in it.

Gotta add up the receipts, but the total budget looks to be less than $300 USD.

Details & pics to follow.:bounce:

And Thanks to everyone who has kicked in some funding to defray the cost of starting the project.

Nice, can't wait to see the write-up....do you think this would be any different for a 62 ???

Awesome, I am glad that my 20 dollars went to a useful cause! Thanks again for doing this Jim.

Dylan

Yeah I can't wait to get started on this after I get all my other stuff caught up. Sounds like a real winner now that it's come to fruition.

Good on ya Jim!

Question: do the 60 and 62 fuel gauges operate off the same resistance specs?
