Any issues with aftermarket exhaust systems being pulled back into the cab on a FJ40 with the rear window vents?

I am getting ready to order an exhaust kit that will have to be run along the outside of the frame on the PS because the exhaust down pipe is on that side above the front drive shaft.

When I picked up the R2.8 adapter kit in Montana I got to take a ride in a FJ40 and it was smokey in the cab. I want to avoid that and I am thinking of just doing a straight run to rear of the truck.

Straight out the back is what causes the issue.
Out the side is best, the corner second best.

Thanks I was thinking the same just don't what the experience what I did in Montana and seems that running across the back like the stock exhaust did from the PS to the DS is a waist of material.

When I had the top off with stock exhaust configuration I don't remember any fumes. It was just disconcerting in the 60 smoke was making its way into the cab. Don't remember is how the exhaust exited. The shop owner started his and it was on the DS so don't know what it was like inside the cab just standing behind it idling and it was white smoke and was enough to make my eyes water.

FWIW my 40 has a corner exit and no top, gets a bit fumy on ocassion
I get fumes on occasion with the pipe exiting behind the driver rear tire. Softtop with sides and back rolled up.

Thats where mines at, I might stick a tip on it and angle it a bit diff and maybe another inch or so out to see if that makes a diff. It had one, got rusty so got deleted, cant recall if fumes were less when it was there.
Mines open so any fumes get aired out pretty quick, I have a small fan up in the corner for hot days that keeps cab area cleared out.

I thought about a downward tip to slip on there…
Maybe I’ll give that a shot.

I haven't ordered a kit yet but have to plan. I did find the one I have decided on that has all the connections but needs supports, muffler and some kind of tip.

(2F)- DS exhaust just before the corner w/a slight downward orientation. Summer driving with the sides rolled up and the ambulance 1/2 doors open. No unwanted fumigation. 👍🏻

Nice finish work, painting alum is not easy. Any pics of the rest of the 40 ?
His build thread will either cost you a mortgage or a few jaw drop readjustments.

Likely both.
