Exceptional rotational play in the front axle?

That's a good enough endorsement! Where did you get yours from?
I want to say I got them from Onur ( beno here on mud ) but it could've easily been Georg ( orangefj45 ) since I get parts through both of them.

Cool! I sent him an email.

Oh, @wardharris, I see you creeping this thread. Do you sell these?

Yep, I think these were bad!

Great thread, 3 quick questions for you...
Did you find excessive wear on the flanges and the birfield splines or could you have gotten away with only replacing the flanges?
Did the repair help with the banging noise when driving?
How much rotation do you get from your front driveshaft after the repair?

The birfs were toast, they wear just as much as the flanges.
Yes, the banging noise and thump are gone now.
I haven't checked it yet, but I know that most of my play was a result of those worn splines.

On an constant all wheel drive system, the rotational play is the sum of all of the slop and play in the front and rear axles and the transfer case and transmission (assuming it is in park). The rotational play will be the same at both front and rear, since they share the same sources of play and have the same gear ratio. 30-45 degrees is not unusual and is not something to worry about. If you lock the center differential, then the rotational play will that of which ever differential has the least slop and not the sum of the play.

Well, the source of that was stripped drive flanges so I was pretty worried.

The stripped drive flanges is just one of many sources and the total play is the sum of all sources. My flanges are fine and I have 45 degrees of rotation. It is inconsequential as long as it is within specs for the individual sources.
