Stuck on step 2 of dropping the h55 and transfer case. Obviously got the shifter out, but can’t figure how to remove this adaptor, I am assuming trans doesn’t drop nearly that much on removal.

How do I get it off? Why is there an adaptor?

PO brewed adapter for personal placement preference? Can you knock those bolts down or carefully pry it up that top black ring? Seems like some kind compression setup to keep that adapter held down onto the trans top.

That is a mythical, seldom seen short-shift kit.

After effing with this for a while it seems the adapter goes on just like the factory with having to push down and turn counterclockwise past those two internal pins. Problem is I can’t get it to depress/move much…maybe it’s kinda seized on? Fml.

Can the trans be dropped through the tunnel on removal? I’m sure with appropriate leverage i can fix this problem, there’s little room to do anything under the dash.

Can I remove the h55 with it attached? It’s becoming the mother of all battles under the dash.
