If you have a solid tow rig to start, seems like some of the best options would be on Marketplace from individuals, but most look like 7k (not the preferred 10k) capacity. My son did rent a heavier equipment trailer from one of the places like United when he picked up his monster Bronco, but he also has a 250 super duty with the 7.3 diesel to handle the haul.
I have a Tundra that can haul 11k, so I think a 10k trailer would be doable, although not as easily as Andrew's tow rig.

Are there places where you can rent a car trailer?
Uhaul. But tell them you'll be carrying a 1966 VW Bug. And don't trust the trailer. Meh, just skip Uhaul. :hillbilly:

Oh, and good morning, Bart. @Von Hayek

The newer and bigger trailers have 6 lug 5200 lb axles and can carry a little more load. the old ones, not so much.

I'm going to officially shoot for GSMTR this year. There are a few hurdles to get through work wise, but I did reserve a house on VRBO right near access to trail 23 and about a 7 minute street drive to the main park entrance. Hoping to get my wife on board and possibly my son @An3 and his wife and young son too. I can cancel with a full refund up until early May, so I'll definitely know where we all stand by then. If Andrew and family cannot make it, my wife may bail too. At that point, I'd open to other club members to join in for a lodging option. It's not a huge house, but 2 BR with 2 queens, 1 room + a bunk and also a bunk in the family area for extra sleeping options. Fun perk is a stocked pond right out front to throw some jigs and spinners out for evening fishing!

With work, we do a huge annual event for a local corporate client and requires all hands on deck including myself...a crab feast and everything else that you can imagine for 700+ at the CEO's weekend place for all of the office staff that they bus out for the day. It's usually in June, last year was closer to the 25th, but they've done it as early as the 5th and always on a Thursday or Friday...I have a feeler out to the planner to see where the date choices are so far, fingers crossed that it's not the week of GSMTR June 12th - 14th. :steer: 🦀

Glad to hear your planning to hit up Windrock @CrabCake

It’s not my money, but if you swap that reservation to a house on Norris Lake, I bet your entire family makes the trip 🤣
Norris Lake is awesome! Have stayed there for a Windrock trip a couple of years back

Tomorrow I’ll try to update the original post with some of these other events and dates. Maybe even see if I can put some tentative attendee names to the respective events.

Yeah, we'll see if any of them can do this one...I like the lake idea (and your pics last year looked like fun!), but I do have a boat that we all use often in the summer here in Annapolis, so the boating is less of a draw for us on this trip. The house I rented is right on a pond that is stocked (so they say), so some evening light spinners or fly rigs could be fun to toss out from the shore.

If my family bails on me, I may just do a campsite and put that money into other things. My friends with the timeshares in Bermuda just invited my wife and I and another friend from FL to join them for a bit...so we got our flight there for March 17th to stay for the week and fly back with them on their NetJet private flight...they keep a "spare" 3 bedroom ground level 2 master suite unit for friends to come down and hang out while they are there for the month. 🌴🌴🌴

Hah! They have 2, one is a penthouse suite, both in the Encore in Nashville overlooking downtown. They had my wife and I down in 2023 for the Indy races…:rainbow:

Sounds like you have some tough options Eric. Keep us posted. I might be able to make it and happy to contribute!

Excellent....I can have a bunk for you either way!

Red arrow shows where the VRBO is, right near trail 23, 7 minutes on the road to main/camping area.

Have you guys got a date for Fall Crawl yet?

Although our event in September is billed as a “70 Series” event, and the rare 70 Series is the focus, ALL LAND CRUISERS ARE INVITED. 😊
** Registration will open in late July.

@prharper and @CrabCake - I will be headed down there... I will have both the 13yo boy and 11yo warrior princess with me. The wife won't be able to make it. our plan was to just camp. Trying to keep cost down as we are headed to Cruisers on the Rockies again this year.

Good to know! I've converted to a camping option myself. Most/all of my family is skipping out...my son might be able to make it, but with a 1-3/4 year old at home, it's a stretch for sure for him given the distance.

I went ahead and registered for a campsite on one of the overlook decks (for tents), but found out after I did, that there is camping space included near where most of the event organization will be. I'll keep both options open...not sure if I'm dragging the M101A2 with RTT, or just use the Gazelle...might base this on the weather forecast as we get closer.

Just a heads up if it's the main field that they're offering for camping which is what it most likely is. Is in an open field and with the sun it gets hot!

Good to know! I have platform 1 reserved in the woods too…I think it’s a 16x16, so a good amount of space!
