Hi Everybody,
I don't post much but look at all posts for anything that I feel may help me. The wagon has done 438000 k's, has been converted to duel fuel (LPG and Petrol) and does not burn any oil between oil changes at 15000 to 20000 k's. I use Nulon fully syn 10-40 free flowing oil.
On start up the oil gauge will go up to the 3/4 mark and as it warms up will gradually drop to the 1/4 position. I must point out that I am mostly a highway traveller with a lot of running at around 2000 to 2200 revs. When travelling at this constant rev range the gauge can drop below the 1/4 mark, then bounce back up to the 1/2 way mark and back again. I am unsure whether it is due to the free flowing oil, as I am pretty sure that when using fully syn Penrite 10-40 this did not occur and the gauge stayed around the 1/2 way mark.

I had some crazy stuff going on with my oil pressure also, changed the sender unit and voila....
it's a relatively cheap part.
