Thank youHey great product development...I appreciate the effort and time invested into this! When do you suspect you'll have another round of inventory?
Yes sirAfter roughly 50 miles...catch can is catching!
Awesome product! Very easy install. Thank you Epic Cruisers!
Thanks for the interest and patience. My "real" job has been crazy lately so I haven't been able to devote that much time to the kits. That being said, I'm currently working on tumbling all 40 brackets to start assembling the kits. I also have 37 out of 40 hoses, 3 of them along with some other parts have been "stuck" at the USPS distribution center since June 14thHello, checking in on the next batch. Any update on availability? Thank you!
Thank you. I have thought about it and it's definitely on the list, I'd say it's second or third on the list to complete. The next kit I'd like to complete is the one for the 2UZ-FE crowd (100 series, GX, 4Runner, Tundra, Sequoia). Business and time wise, it just makes the most sense with the large number of vehicles and enthusiast with that engine. Thanks for the interest! Also interested in giving this a go. Seems like a great kit.
Have you thought about doing this for the 3FE?
I'm shooting to have them up the week of August 5th. I received the last of the hoses last Tuesday after they were stuck at USPS for over a month. I appreciate everyone's patience with this second batch since it's taken longer than I originally intended. On the positive side I'll have 40 kits available once I get them up on the website. Thanks for the interest!Bump when will these be available?
Yes I was shocked too, unfortunately our rigs are getting very old and so are our engines. With that age and wear comes blowby, unless you fully rebuild your engine which most of us don't do. I like to think of the catch can as preventative maintenance, not absolutely necessary but definitely nice to have. Thanks for the update @EPIC Cruisers . I'm doing the head gasket on my engine and I'm shocked at how much oil was in the upper and lower intake manifold. I will be purchasing a kit here soon.
Great question and good eye. I'm not sure on the exact service life of the plastic bowl, however I can tell you that since having mine mounted for 60k/6 years (actually a little more than that now) I haven't had an issue with it. I've only had to replace the bowl once and that was because I tried cleaning it with brake cleaner which was my mistake. The bowls are also not expensive to replace, about $25 which includes the bowl/bowl gasket and the drain/drain gasket. I've added a "warranty" portion on the website which says we'll guarantee products for 90 days after delivery. However, if something fails shortly after that window I'll still happily try to remedy the issue within reason. I have purposedly set aside extra complete catch cans to quickly remedy any situation that may come up.EPIC Cruisers ,
In the photo in post 43 above, the sticker on the plastic bowl lists a max operating temp of 125 degrees, Under hood temps in the summer time can easily exceed 125 degrees, So the question i have, what's the service life of that plastic bowl going to be when it's repeatedly exposed to temps over 125 degrees?
The engine was rebuilt in fall of 2021 with 272K miles on it. The supercharger was added in fall of 2022 and the HG blew in April of this year probably from a lean condition. I don't have any kind of AFR monitoring. I cleaned the intake during the rebuild and it was sparkling clean.Yes I was shocked too, unfortunately our rigs are getting very old and so are our engines. Quick update for everyone regarding the next batch - I'm still working on the kits. The brackets are tumbled, the hoses are cut, and I currently just need to drill the mounting holes in all the catch cans. Just haven't had the time to do it this week, but plan on knocking it out this weekend. I apologize for the delay!
Bummer that it failed like that. But if you can visually see a difference in the intake after 3 years just imagine how caked up some rigs are after 27+ years without a cleaning (of course some of us clean the intakes when doing the inevitable HG job, but still). Of course the catch can doesn’t help clean retroactively, but it definitely helps prevent it from getting worse. The engine was rebuilt in fall of 2021 with 272K miles on it.
