Entry level LP smoker..

I've been using a SS Cookshack for the past 12-years and love it. I would imagine LP is going to be more moist than either straight wood or electric.

Check out Smokingmeatforums.com, I'll be they'll have some good selections.
That said, I still think the Webber Smokey Mountain Cooker is the best smoker money can buy.

I find the Smoke Hollow LP smokers to be about as idiot proof as you can get if you are looking for something you can just set and forget. I've had mine for about 2 years. Only complaint is that it is a bit tight if you want to do a full on pork shoulder or multiple racks of ribs... but it's me and the :princess: 99% of the time, so it is not that big of a problem.

I don't think it's the best "money can buy", but for the price it blows away the competition.
I looked at every entry level smoker on the market. I really liked the BGE, but who can justify the cost? I have the large Bullet and I love the product. I haven't gotten to the point of "set and forget" yet. Too many variables and I haven't done enough long cooks on it to get it right, but it does produce some tasty treats.

Eh, I see the BGE as something more than just a smoker or grill, it's its own unique creature, but you're right, there are smokers out there that are better than the WSMC, I should have worded that better. It's likely the best bullet smoker produced by a national company.

I'm willing to bet some mom and pop shop cranks out a better design because they can afford to pay attention to details a conglomo-factory overlooks, and have a better eye for what is needed, and I'm also willing to bet that Cookshack probably makes the best electric smoker around, and the UDS is probably the best convenient homebrew design out there.

Shoot, if I were made of money, I'd run a couple WSMC's, a cookshack and a Masterbuilt Electric smoker, but...

I'm using mine right now.

Love my WSM!!!! Once I have the BBQ Guru it will be a set and forget cooker.

Well at least as long as the charcoal lasts.

Wow...I see the new Cookshack Smokette is almost 7 bills! ~10-years ago I bought mine for $399...that's a steep hike even if its over a decade!

Right, I think it's the competition. CS has had to really crack down and produce a quality product to stand out from other electric smokers on the market.
I would say that a Masterbuilt is now about where CS used to be.

He probably uses an old refrigerator. Haven't you gone to get that one yet???

That one is on the bucket list, what a pita to fetch. Time to smoke fast food on something that is delivered in 5 business days.

Just stumbled across the Smoke Hollow brand smoker, the entry level one prices in under 250.00, which is about middlin' all things considered.
The few who speak on them like 'em.
May want to look into it Splitshot!

good luck!

Edited for correct pricing.
Looks like the cheapest one listed was $170.
I've read it takes some mods for cold smoking, but does what it needs to for smoke-roasting.
Personally, for that price, you could throw in an Amaz-n-smoker starter pack for better smoke delivery, and call it a fine enough outfit.

Got to admit, price ain't bad. I even found the 30" base model online for $140, the 34" has an extra grate and is in the $170 range. Good start till I can haul home a fridge. Thanks for the links:cheers:

Sounds good.
And the Amaze-n-smoker is worth it's weight in gold. It produces a good head of smoke more consistently than chunks or chips, and none of the resins of pellets. It can also be used for cold smoking, too.

^^^ I'm confused...the Amaze-n-Smoker website states its for sawdust and pellets. Would small chips work in it too?

It's dust only.
They have a new pellet smoker model, but I don't trust pellets.

I don't own one yet, but I've played with them, and they're awesome, they produce alot of smoke without the troubles and inconsistencies of chunks, and the dust is competitively prices against chips.

I was looking at those...

I wouldn't mind one, myself.
I hate worrying about my temps when I smoke. Though, the WSMC is just set and forget, for the most part, which is pretty reassuring.

I gotta smoke something tonight...
Beer butt chicken anyone?

I have and love the Model 41170B from Costco @$295.00 And I cook my brisket at 150* for 20 hours and it's fantastic. I kick it up to 380* to clean and sterilize.
