sweet build, and great pics!!!

Kevin, I can't believe you got the Troopy with the camper top! I drooled over that thing for days. That's awesome that it's down her in SE NM.

Finally made some progress on the Troopy this weekend. We have the front axle ready for the hubs as soon as I figure out a front stud configuration that will work. (Front Wheel Stud Idea Threadl)
Still waiting on the last two American Racing Mojaves to come in before I buy new rubber.
Also got a bunch of new shiny parts for the rear bumper. I was originally going to fab something custom but decided to go old school with bumperettes, fresh lighting housings, lens, guards, and a 2" receiver from CCOT.

Here's a few pics of the (slow) progress.

Got a new set of V6 calipers from O'Reillys:

TRE clearance is good with the 1/4" spacer.

I purchased my rear bumper from 4 plus. I liked it so well that I ordered some of his custom spring shackles as well. He makes a fine product.

Love the bumper, does that work as a whole swing out with tire and cooler rack? Don't really want
To put the tire carrier back on my fresh resto so I've been looking for an alternative solution?

Glad it's coming together. Cool to see the girls in the shop working, too. Never got my :princess: to do that, other than pumping the brake/clutch pedals to bleed them.

Email me your mailing address. My Mac crashed and I lost everything, including most of my emails. I still need to send you those couple parts I mentioned.

Not exactly sure what the question is but the basket swings open to the passenger side and the tire swings open to the drivers side. The basket was built to hold jerry cans but it just happens to be a perfect size for that 45 qt Yeti.

Thread hijack over. If you have more questions about that bumper, pm me. I can forward Dave's contact info or more pics if you would like.

To the OP.... Nice progress. Keep up the good work!

I don't have any experience with them. I got mine from Napa and they've been great. Neither Napa nor O'Reilly rebuild them themselves I'm fairly certain so find out who does O'reilley's rebuilds and see what their reputation is.

Edit: sorry, too late. They look nice. Did you put your Cruiser calipers back in the box for your core?

That troopy is looking great; so cool it went to a good home.

Chamba,

I haven't taken the cores back... I wonder if they will accept them even if they're slightly different?

Thanks for the kudos! It's been frustrating lately, trying to get the right parts and make them work. I'm planning on having her back on all four legs tonight. Just had to order a replacement stock stud after I broke one experimenting (long story). Hopefully just in time for some snow this coming weekend if the weatherman is right! :steer:

I did it. I doubt the lads at O'Riley will notice....just hand them over quietly in their box with a dumb look on your face; works all the time.

Still rolling with the old FJ60 wheels. They're estimating the 17x8 Mojave's will be in the US by the end of the month. I'll definitely be posting a pic of those when they're done!

And... it looks like I'm going to end up with bolt-on spacers after all. ;p I don't think the new wheels and tires will clear the springs enough without some kind of spacers.

If anyone is interested in the current wheels and tires let me know...

Got the rear bumper all freshened up this weekend:

20131201_115739.jpg

Stripping it down.

Trimming out a patch.

Ugly

Patched up!

20131201_190209.jpg

All cleaned up and dressed up.

The rear light protectors from CCOT didn't fit so I have to do a little research to see why.

Might be sending them back... otherwise, it looks MUCH better without that boat anchor hanging on the back!

Next on the list: new left rear lower ambulance door patch. :wrench:

Very Nice 80 Troopy!!!! I added 4+ front and rear bumpers to my 1980 Troopy. I love them.!!!!!

Probably just because they are CCOT.

Looks great! Are you getting the amby door patch from CCOT, too? If it fits, seems like the best way to go. They may not have the rounded corners for the later ones, I'm not sure. But you can fix that easily enough.
