Makes me want a Troopy! Forgive me for asking, but what was the point of the spacers? Aren't you worried about the tires getting in to your sheet metal?

I also was a little concerned about that but I highly doubt it will be an issue since this isn't planned to be a hardcore offroad vehicle. I still have 8 inches of travel as she sits. There's a long story why I had to use spacers on another post. This was the best option.

Looks great!

Those old 9.50s fit the 60 series rim very well, but I bet you can feel a big difference in stability now, no? It never felt tippy to me, but could definitely tell it was narrow.

David,

Stability is definitely improved with the wider stance and tires. The only problem now is that the old girl wants to follow asphalt profiles so it's a bit of a handful on the rough NM backroads. I need to perform an alignment and install a fresh steering damper to see if that helps keep her straight.
Highway travel is great though. :steer:

In other news. My job situation isn't looking great so I may be moving soon. Got my eye on a job up near Santa Fe so maybe I'll be your neighbor before long! :)

Merry Christmas Kevin. Sorry to hear about the job outlook, though if it brings you to Santa Fe, it certainly isn't all bad. Ours is changing, too. Ashleigh just accepted a job starting in September in DC, so now I'm looking for work.

Finally made some progress on the Troopy this weekend. We have the front axle ready for the hubs as soon as I figure out a front stud configuration that will work. (Front Wheel Stud Idea Threadl)
Still waiting on the last two American Racing Mojaves to come in before I buy new rubber.
Also got a bunch of new shiny parts for the rear bumper. I was originally going to fab something custom but decided to go old school with bumperettes, fresh lighting housings, lens, guards, and a 2" receiver from CCOT.

Here's a few pics of the (slow) progress.

Got a new set of V6 calipers from O'Reillys:

Packing it with some Redline:

TRE clearance is good with the 1/4" spacer.

Your brake calipers are inverted between driver and passenger side. The purge bolt should be located in upper side.

Best.

Very cool!

Are those bed slats stored in the roof? If so, any more pics/details?

Yes, if you notice in the video, the very front portion is stationary while the last three planks are stacked in the rear right above the rear doors. Just slip them one at a time on to those aluminum rails and you're done.

I'm still working on the final interior format for camping season. An expedition trailer would really make things a lot easier as I would locate all the gear and cooking items outboard. We shall see how the budget dictates the final product.

A few pics from playing in the snow today:

Haha! Thanks David! I've already put 600 miles on it since I bought it from you. Looking at a trip to the Canadian River up towards Amarillo in a few weeks that will tack on a few more miles if I can get my ducks in a row.

Looks like we are staying in NM for a couple more years. I hope to make it up to Santa Fe before you head east. Hope all is well with you and the family.
