I have a 94 pickup and I think I did some terminal:crybaby: engine damage last night while wheeling with my friends. My qestion is would it pay to put a remanufactured engine in like a jasper, or go the v8 route. Any comments would be welcome

Alcohol & 4 wheeling don't mix, period.

Amen to that.

Please describe the damage, ie: can it possibly be fixed? It's always cheapest to either repair the engine you have or replace it with the same thing. A V8 swap is very expensive.

The engine still runs but it has a LOUD knock and low oil pressure. The wierd thing is it is not a steady knock. It was on its way I think the hill climb in the snow last night killed it:crybaby:. I am going to pick it up soon and will have more info later. Thanks

only about a MILLION variations on how to fix your problem. I know, I've asked everyone of them before I knew how to work on these trucks.

On the cheap: Find a running truck. When I needed a motor I got word back on two trucks. One that needed a trans, had all the parts and title just needed a needed to be re-assembled. And the 2nd was a wreck with rear end damage. Both ran, for $400 apiece.

If you've got money burning a hole in you pocket, get the Jasper and have a mechanic put it in.

I might be wrong, but I think it effects the warranty who puts it in. And with his labor, it's up to you if you want to put another $2,000+ into your truck.

Also, FWIW, research putting in a crank kit from ENGNBLDR
