Yes, I get the 5 quart jugs from Wally-Mart and occasionally will also pick up a single quart (~$7) of various Mobil 1 oils for topping up.

There's some scuttlebutt about walmart versions of oil being lesser.

I'm not sure how they'd get away with that, with the same UPC and all. You'd think that the FTC would get involved.

Forklift motor don't care.

Just make sure you fill somewhere between 7 and 8 quarts when you change it.

Synthetic is a must- check my 275k mile engine rebuild threat.

Synthetic wasn't required when these engines were designed and it surely isn't required now :meh:

I've been using conventional 10w-30 with great results according to frequent Blackstone samples.

So good in fact that when I pushed my last test interval to 19,xxx miles and they said I could've gone much more according to the TBN results.

My advice?

Choose whatever oil on the shelf that fits your wallet and stick with the same brand throughout the life of your engine

Reason being, some brands use different detergents and additives that may not gel well with others :o

I've found that the more I stuck with one brand, the better my results got with age :)

That being said, I recently switched to 15w-40 of the same brand not too long ago since I'm pushing some high mileage.

346,xxx miles on the original HG and I just drove from NY to Orlando last night without giving it a second thought
