You're gonna ADD that stuff to her and she's sold ?

Well, at least somebody's getting a rig full of blood, sweat and tears ... (and time and $ )

Lots of all of those things went into this truck! And yes, I am adding all of that stuff for the new owner. It's been sitting in the garage so I just need to buckle down and get everything put together.

I never like to not complete a project but, if you guys are like me, I've never had a vehicle that has been "DONE." There is always something to add or change. I'll be back in the cruiser community someday.

Well I am going to be a BUSY frickin' bee tying up a few little projects before the new owner takes it from me next weekend. I even skipped a weekend of snowboarding to take care of this thing! :D

I got the speakers wired up. Pioneer 5.25's, they sound great and have no interference when rolling down the windows. The CD player is also a pioneer and even has an ipod adapter. I went ahead and put the original door panels back on, which I really didn't want to do before I reupholstered them, but they cleaned up decently (but not on par with the rest of the interior).

I also spent some time installing the new winch bumper. It's super sweet, tucks up close to the body and mounts with six Grade 8 bolts on each side! Getting the frame brackets off was a royal PITA with the grinder but with enough swearing and hammering, they eventually saw it my way.

Bracket in question.

It came off fairly easily.

The other side, however, had to be difficult. I had to chop and smack on it endlessly. I'm sure my neighbors love me. You can see the carnage and the tools that were sacrificed to get it off.

But it's all mounted up now.

And the latch for my tire carrier came in. 2000lb capacity, so I don't think it's going to fail. I'll probably start burning that thing together tomorrow night after class.

Looking good, and I can assure you that the new owner is very pleased with all this action... Sorry about the door panels dude. I have been doing some research on what to do with them, and have a few ideas. I have also been reading up on all of the rustoleum paint jobs, and have been quite impressed. I think that's going to be the plan, in brown of course. I might have to wait till it warms up a bit though, so I might be trying to tackle the rest of the interior first. Anyways, I look forward to seeing how the latch for the spare comes along. Thanks.

Missed a bluebird day at Keystone today E.. all to do some work on a rig thats not even yours! :flipoff2:

Looking good man, let me know if you wanna come on a run sometime. There's always an open seat for ya.

The new owner should be excited!

Getting the tire carrier built.

Playing around with where to put the tire. I think it will be more off-center and definitely lower. Having the ability to modify the swingout to carry jerry cans, coolers, build a ladder, etc would be nice.

S5001433.jpg

I'd put it as low as you can put it, and to the left side would leave plenty of room for jerrycan carriers and a ladder.

I like the lower carriers that dont obstruct your rear view as much.

Hittin up Snowmass this weekend. you going up?- or working on this rig thats not even yours any more. FAIL.

Hey butthead,

I won't be up this weekend. Working on the rig like a dog everyday until saturday. The new owner is coming down from WY to talk Cruisers and see all the in's and out's of the rig. And Sunday is SUPER BOWL PARTY! (even though, I don't even watch football. Good reason to drink beer)

As for the tire carrier, I'm thinking lower and to the left (that's what she said) will work better too. A ladder added on the free space would be really sweet, but I don't have a bender.

Right on E.. gotta get that rig put together and finalized for that lucky new owner. Hey when you do sell your rig, how quickly will you be headed towards town? Thought of possibly doing my OME lift with you in your garage if you'll still have it by then and you were down. but 1st thing's 1st.. gotta get that Desmog complete. Talked to Jim C today and he hasnt even started on the carb / dizz. its been 8 weeks since i sent it out. :frown: :meh:

Tire carrier is done. I caught my fleece on fire... again.

Using my redneck sawhorses.

All done.

I'm pretty happy with where the tire placement.

Not as good as some of yours guys' welds, but I don't think it's going anywhere.

S5001446.jpg

Shot some paint on it and should be ready to mount tomorrow after work! I can smell the end of this build.

Here is what I will be calling the final product. I'm going to see if I can diagnose the blower motor issue, mount up the fan shroud, and a couple of little odds and ends but this is more or less done!
