Dude that driveshaft is cleannnn. I want one haha. My driveshaft has been removed twice and I never did any work on it. I just know it needs to be bolted on to drive haha.

I hope that Power Steering fluid is for your cherokee :)
(Even though it probably is)

Got the rear axle done.

New wheel cylinders
New shoes
New e-brake bellcranks and hardware
3" lift springs/shocks
Rebuilt and balanced driveshaft
Shock xmember cleaned and painted with rust proof enamel
Same with rear half of the frame (lots of work but worth it)

Still need to get the drums turned and bleed the brakes. Hopefully I can make that happen this weekend!

Reading this thread gives me more motivation to tear into my newly acquired 62 as well!

On a side note, I looked into those seat covers.. close to $500 !!!! WOWSERS.

damn! looks really good!!!

Nice work E! almost there!

you goin riding this weekend??

Well after thoroughly bleeding the brakes and making a few adjustments, I actually pulled the beast out of the garage. Upon first drive, it feels A TON better than those flat, worn out springs and shocks. The steering feels nice and tight, the parking brake works well, and most importantly.... it didn't blow up on the test drive! I'm hoping the shackle angle mellows out a little bit as the springs settle but we'll see, the ride quality isn't terrible but we'll see how it holds up.

Next endeavor is mounting up this SROR rear bumper I have along with fabbing the tire carrier and jerry can holder. I'm so glad I have a REAL 4x4 to drive now! Thanks for reading.

Nice bro!!

she lives! good to see her out of the garage. hows that engine running?

Hey E- where'd you get those seat covers? :flipoff2:

thanks for the help yesterday man, your music collection is top notch. ;)

Hater. :D

The 4runner brakes are working well so far but I think I may still spring for the T100 master cylinder to firm up the brake pedal.

The suspension is about 2.5-3" higher than stock.

Looking good elliot,needs some paint:hhmm:

I'm still working out a few kinks, slowly but surely.

I currently have a noticeable clicking in the rear. It is rhythmic and corresponds with how fast I'm going (even though I've hit a top speed of 25 mph so far). When I rebuilt the driveshaft I didn't put a mark on it to line it back up the way it came out. Would this make a difference?

I'm going to jack up the rear and see if I can isolate any noise. Just thought you guy might have an idea or 2.

Did u get new U joints when you had the DS balanced? And they're greased?

In the FSM, DS (propeller shaft) section, there's a schematic on how the two halves of the DS should be aligned, using the grease nipple locations... Did you happen to see, and or, follow it?

I had a clicking in mine, at first, then I took the rear DS off, made sure it was in phase per the FSM instructions mentioned above, put an extra squirt of grease in, all around. Click-b-gone.

Thank Spike, I'm going to go check it out now. I read the FSM while doing most of the rear axle but don't remember seeing that in there.

I jacked up the rear axle, popped off the cover and snooped around. The pinion and carrier bearings appear to be fine. No metal in the bottom of the diff. The only concern is that the brakes scrape a bit when I turn the tire. I wasn't able to turn the drums because they were out of spec, I'm assuming the little bit that it drags will quickly wear correctly into the shoe. (Not a big deal as this rig will see very few miles).
