What year 80? On my 94 I simply disconnected the vacuum lines from the top of the throttle body and looped one back to the TB and the other back to the egr valve and unplugged the temp sensor. Never had a CEL.

Do you mean looped back to the EGR Vacuum Modulator (like what I marked up in red)? I'm looking at the EGR system and not seeing which lines you looped back.

I don't see the gas temp sensor. Mine is a 93 and the 94 FSM shows it to be where the arrow is pointing. The first link of this thread shows a photo of a hole on the other side of the intake that I don't have.

My 1993 does not have a temp sensor either. The 1994 I had previously did have the temp sensor.
