I have a HJ60. It has been acting up lately. When driving you can hear a relay click from passenger footwell. After that a small stuttering on engine. I assumed it is fuel control relay. I opened it up. It was quite rusty inside. I cleaned it as good as I could. Went for a test drive. It worked fine. Then after a few days studdering came back. I got my hands on a new fuel control relay. With that the fuel enrichment is allways on and the smoke is heavy. I have tried 4 used fcr. Last one is fully working. But it did nothing to my studdering. I also tried to disconnect the oil pressure sensor for EDIC. Did not help. Lastly I changed the EDIC to a other used one. This helped. Went for a 20km test drive and to my friend. It worked like it should no problem. Then we went for a little drive with my friend and all good. When leaving home the whole way it stuttered. It was approx. 6-8sec between stuttering and relay clicking. So for a few kilometers every 6 seconds it stuttered. With EDIC rod to pump disconnected everything is fine.

What can I do next? The car worked fine for almost three summer. Last autumn it started act up.. Please someone help...

Your EDIC relay is power by a two fusible links at one of the batteries and the ignition switch relay. With the oil pressures sender wire removed will also cause it to shut off. A little confusing when you say disconnecting that wire didn’t help? It should cause it to shut off.

The relay sounds to be switch switching briefly to the unpowered off position. If not the oil pressure sender, wire or actual oil pressure issue. The likely cause would be the ignition power source to the EDIC.

You are going to have to check wiring for issues. Both ignition and battery sources start at the fuseable links. They get brittle with age and sometimes break near the battery. Also I’m not sure why but I have seen it happen do to a broken connection on the alternator wiring right near the alternator connector.

If the hot wiring checks out fine you will need to go over your grounds.

I will have to try to understand that diagram and do some research. And maybe find a HJ diagram if it differs from BJ.

The oil pressure switch will ground when no pressure. So wire disconnected it does not get ground so it will run. I disconnected it while on test drive and drove home with the wire off.

You are correct my bad.

Start with the easy things to check first.
Just go open the hood and pull back the loom at your fuseable links at the battery and the alternator connection and check for a broken wire, loose or corroded connections.

It seems to work now. Found this. In comments the solution was ground points. Cleaned them and no help. But I forgot the one from battery to fender. After cleaning that the test drive was success.
