easy fix?

Driving down the freeway both of the shifters rattle like crazy. The shifter for the four wheel drive used to be the only rattle that I had and I did the quality fix with the bungee. Now the other is rattling as well. Any thoughts on how to fix this, or is it something that requires me to pull the trany?

I dunno, it's been a while since I had a Toyota transmission....BUT, if you pull the cap that holds the stick in the the top of the tranny, you see that spring that used to have grease on it between the cap and the tranny. What would happen if you renewed that grease? Sure would be easy, if it worked. Just a thought.
As for the transfer case stick rattle, again, it's been a long time. I have 3 sticks there now and they all rattle. Bungee still works for those.

That bungee cord fix is wearing out your shifter forks in the transfer case.

as of five years ago, the shifter forks and collars were still available and are a common wear item. the five tcases i had at the time were all worn

So is it possible to replace the collar and the shifter forks without pulling the tranny? Shows you how much I know
