Since I am packing to GTFO I have a bunch of liquid waste. Most of it is pretty adulterated. Paint, oil, gas, break fluid, solvents some all mixed in the same 5 gallon buckets. I have three 5 gallon buckets and then I have to empty my parts washer - that is another 10 or 20 gallons I guess.

Does anyone know where I can take this stuff to properly dispose of it in North GA?

Up here in Rome they collect it twice a year. The next day available is May.

It is a bit distressing that it is so hard to get rid of this. No wonder people pour it in creeks and storm drains. :bang::confused:

Some autoparts or jiffy lube type places will take it off your hands. Not sure about the paint, but other petroleum products are usually welcomed to drain into their recycling container.

I have brought straight or oil to O' Riley's before. but with all the other stuff I have like insecticides I'm really not sure what to do with it.

leave it at a meth lab and let the hazmat crew take it :flipoff2:

that is an excellent suggestion. But unfortunately - or fortunately, I have not been to one in months!

Maybe try a body shop for the paints? The parts washer solvents (depending on what kind they are) usually have to be recovered by the company that services the washer. The solvents are not able to just be mixed in with oil or whatever. Here at the dealerships we are even supposed to keep our coolant and oil separate. So maybe try a company that deals with parts washers (like Safety Kleen) and see if they can dispose of it or point you in the right direction.

Up here some of the landfills and convenience center have places to dispose of that stuff. Coolant is a tough one. I've called a couple places and have had a hard time finding a place to take it too.

That is a pretty messed up deal. I certainly can see why people would pour it on the ground. Our recycling center in town won't even take it except twice a year. My parts washer has the purple Super Clean in it from Walmart.

From the MSDS:
Sodium metasilicate
Sodium hydroxide
Surfactant, Glycol blend

Disposal Instructions:
This material must be disposed of in accordance with all local, state, provincial, and federal
regulations.

That's helpful.

paint: get the solidifying gel to make is safe for the trash.
oil: I just took mine to the local auto store
coolant: most landfills have a spot for chemicals, alternatively, look for hazard dump event from muni places (fire dept), etc.

Aren't you in the military? On base has to have a shop :P

My paint is going to stay in the house I guess. (Or be given away.)
My oil is all adulterated with fuels and other crap including water.
There is no place for chemicals at our local landfill and I don't have time to wait for a dumping event. Those are the two main issues.

And nope. Not affiliated anymore.

There is a large tank at the local PD in the secure parking area for waste oil. Looks like I will be contaminating that.
