I just picked this one up a couple of weeks ago, I always loved the look of the older dual sports so I looked around for a while and found this one Its a '78 Suzuki TS250. It only has 1300 original miles, and the tires on it are the originals, the same guy has owned it since 1980. I will probably use it mostly on road but wanted to be able to take it off if needed. I plan on riding it to work and short trips this summer and maybe doing a semi restore on it this winter.

Honda is the best

I have a couple of Honda dirt bikes. I also work on honda race bikes and for long term Honda is the way to go. They have a 230 and if you are a bigger guy around 250 it should carry you find. It is real easy to get and put a stiffer rear shock on the bike. The Kawa KlX is a good bike but it is a lot of bike. People ride that type of bike in the dakar rally. The Honda 230 is quicker and more manuverible.

If you are intrested contact me back I know the dealer in Charleston ,SC has one right now but there are some other ones on cycle trader.

BMW just bought Husky, did ya know?
The best keeps getting better. The best adventure cycles (95%/5%) buy one of the best offroads. Which brings Husqvarna into the extensive BMW Motorad dealer net for parts/service and sales.
There's a 450 beemer enduro coming out that looks good. And they've made an interesting two-wheel drive (yes) machine with extended rear swing arm and an interesting integrated tranny/swing arm axis for the European hillclimb competetions that looks like some interesting concepts for future major trail bikes.
Just FYI.
I still like the F800GS for an outstanding trekker/adventure bike.

Well I bought a motorcycle last night.

It's not new. A couple of years ago I sold my 84 XR200 to my neighbors son. He had a blast with it. I couldn't tell you how many times I heard it going up and down my street. Anyway I sold him the bike on the condition if he decided he wanted to sell it I could buy it back. So he came by last night and wanted to know if I would buy it. 100 bucks later and I have my old bike back. SHe needs some work but e-bay is a great cheap reasource for used bike parts. Should be fun getting it back on the road.

Dude you're nuts...where are the pics!

No pics. Yet. It is sitting in my driveway behind the 40 right now. The PO didn't know how to change spark plugs and ripped the plug boot off. I bought one off e-aby yesterday. About 5 years ago I rebuildt the engine. Bored it out with a new piston and new timing chain and tensioner. Problem was at the time and still is even more is the cam and the lifters are worn out. The head needs a full rebuild with new parts. I've actuall found I can get all the parts still for around 200. So I'll probably do it.

The best part about this XR was it was the first year for a lot of things. It was the first year of the mono shock rear. An 83 had the old school twin shocks in the rear. It also was one of only two years that Honda had 4 valves. They went back to the twin valves in 86. Also has the twin carbs. A primary and secondary. Right now only the primary is working. PO didn't know there were even two carbs. I found this out last month when I rode it and about half way through the throttle it would bogg down. SO I know that carb is clogged.

These are actually simple machines. Easy to work on and parts are still available. My plan is to rebuild the head. Rebuild the forks and rear shock add some new stiffer fork and rear shock springs, get the lights working again and possible add a dual sport light kit to it and register it. That way I can take it out on the road around town if I wish or go do some trail explorations. It's not very fast with a top speed of 65 but should be fun to tinker with.

I remember back in HS when you bought that bike. You were the coolest kid on the street. Ha! Ha!, J/K :grinpimp:

Can't wait for the build pics, sounds like a cool toy.
