Does anyone remember the Downey aux fuel tank? It mounted above the spare tire and had a separate filler neck. What I need are some pictures of the tank, the hose connections and the filler neck.

There is company that makes them for about $650.00, but that's a bit more than I can afford right now.

found one for a 4 runner, and it should fit with some mods.

This will give me about 30 gals of gas

Are you talking about the tank from NW Metal Products? Downey used to sell them. They are closer to $700 now days. Downey also, many moons ago, sold a plastic tank that was junk. I used to own the plastic tank. I still own the NWMP tank that I installed in 1988.

put the tank in yesterday, and added in 5 gals to check for leaks, everything looked good. I put about 1 gal back into main tank (had to drain main earlier), so I had a low fuel light, about an hour later, took a drive and low fuel light was out.

Today I went and filled up both tanks, right at 24 gals, so with the 5 from yesterday, looks like about 29-30 gals of gas.

Gas anxiety is now a thing of the past. Enjoy, and wonder how you lived without it so long.

Gas gauge hit 3/4 of a tank at 325 miles

^Like. :D

I still need to figure out how to get that mod past the CA emission's so I can install one.

low fuel light came on at 600 miles = $95.00 to fill up both tanks
