what color is that paint? It looks great!
Rustoleum Weathered Wood. It is "Roof Accessory Paint". I can't take credit for finding it though, member Scotch suggested it on another thread. I couldn't find it at first so I tried some other colors that actually looked better according to their caps, but they weren't great. Eventually got the weathered wood and it looks best for sure. The cap looks a little more brown, but it ends up a nice grey. I did all four door speakers. I might do the subwoofer too eventually.

So, that's the pattern underneath the fabric (both front and rear)?

My wife/kids keep dragging their feet across the fabric and tearing it, I'm looking for a more permanent solution...
Yeah, front and rear. This pic is a little better, of the front door.

Like @xXsnowXx said, it's a thread about cloth replacement, but this approach just seems ... unwise when you can get really good results from a $8 can of spray paint, and be done with it. I'd even argue it looks better than OEM. (Side note: what was Toyota thinking with 2¢ of fabric spray glued to a plastic cover?)

I have a grey interior and used Rust-Oleum Painters' Touch 2x Ultra Cover Paint and Primer in Satin Charcoal.

I replaced with factory grill covers/fabric when I redid the speakers.

First drive with a passenger, my teenager put a footprint on the brand new fabric.

Next time I'm going with the paint.

Nice job and looks great! Did you have remove all the covers (and door panels)? ...... Or were you able to do without removing?

Oh thanks. This is one of those few times in life where the outcome exceeded expectations.

You have to take off the door panel in order to unscrew the speaker cover. It's really easy. There is a killer video tutorial here:

There is only one thing I would add to his instruction: when putting the panel back on it works best if you start hooking it onto the door by the speaker/mirror first vs. the other way around.

Oh there is one other thing: Remember which screws go into which holes. Two are longer than the two others and could pop through the cover.

Excellent!! Thanks for the info!!

Are you asking if spray paint will pass through the plastic mesh and get on the speaker cone?

Yes it would, speaker cover should be removed from door to spray paint.

Has anyone just removed the fabric and taped off the door and spray it that way? I am not an audio nerd, I dont think a little spray on my speakers will matter, more interested in looks.

Wondering the same thing. All I listen to is sports talk radio any how. My "audio nerd" days are way behind me. My only concern is not being able to get all the fabric off that way......... some left behind in the crease.

No bueno. You would spend more time taping off the panel than you would removing the panel. It's a 5 minute job if you follow the YT tutorial. And you would get an inferior result. If you are really interested in looks, remove the speaker covers and spray them on some cardboard in your garage.

Understood. Will take the panel off and do it the right way. Thanks for clearing that up.

Seems like every time I remove panels, especially on older vehicles, some plastic clip breaks...........

Also, I don't think the paint would take well on the fabric.
