Door lock issue

I’m having a new problem where my passenger door can be opened, but if I close it and reopen it, it locks. I can go to driver’s side, and unlock the car, and then the door will open, but if I close it and try to open it again, it locks. I am in the process of selling my 80 and dont want to have to take door panel off and deal with it, any quick fixes or ideas of what it could be?

No, this has never happened before, I assume something internally has failed or is stuck but not sure how to address without taking door panel off which I’m trying to avoid if possible

The interior lock and handle mechanism are connected via rods. The rods connect to a hinge inside the door. My guess is the hinge is stuck, so like everytime you open the handle it looks the door.

That could be the issue. Not hard to pop a door panel.
