Is there a whole list of cars this can be used on?

If you search for fc-280pc-22125 on ebay, and sort by "price + shipping: lowest first," the cheapest seller has a bunch of models listed, but not the years.. also, it says that the list isn't all-inclusive...

it just seems that no one has a complete list; any help? it would be nice to know...

97 FZJ80 Replacement

I just did my replacement and the common motor everyone is using is not a direct fit for the 1997. I used the welded nail approach and it seemed to work good. Just wanted to add my findings for anyone looking to buy the motors from ebay.

Hi.... What is the name of the third picture of your post about door lock...

Thanks for all of the excellent tips on replacing actuator motors. However, when I went to Ebay I was confused on what to buy. I have a 2001 Lexus GS300 and I need to replace the motors in the passenger side front and rear actuators. It appears that some sellers have part Mabuchi FC280PT-22125 with a flat shaft and some have it with a round shaft. Also, some show pictures with a brass collar and some show pictures without a collar. Does anyone know what I need? Taking the door apart to look at the motor and then ordering just doesn't seem like a good option.

Considering this is a Land Cruiser forum and the stuff posted here is for that, your best bet is either going to be a general Lex forum that covers the GS or pulling the motor apart is an excellent way to know exactly what you'll need. You're going to have to do it anyway to replace it.

Sorry for the intrusion into a Land Cruiser forum. I got here through a search engine looking for info on a " Lexus door lock actuator ", registered and thought I had hit the jackpot for good Lexus info. I should have know that the info was too straight forward for Lexus owners.

No worries, but seriously, it probably would be the best move to pull the motor (it's not working anyway) and see what it is exactly that you need. Knowing Toyota, it's probably some close variation to the Mabuchi motors. You can at least see from the pics here how to take the casing apart to get to the motor.

I repeat myself with minor tweaks.

Just go for it! Open up the door and pry open the actuator. Worst case you just buy the part at the dealer if you find that the motor is different and finish the project with that part saving the labor at ~$95/hr.

Best case you save $590 and can do a writeup for the [STRIKE]Highlander[/STRIKE] GS300 that will give you internet immortality.

Even better repair the door, ditch the [STRIKE]Highlander[/STRIKE] GS300, buy a cruiser (or LX450,470) and join the best auto forum on the planet.

IH8MUD alone is a good reason to Land Cruiser.

mikeopines - I have an '02 GS430 with a dead actuator (driverside) plan on getting to it in the next couple weeks to see which part will work. Send me a personal message (through this forum's PM service) if you want details and we'll tackle this.

I have the door panel off and can see the door lock assembly and actuator. Are there any tips on the process for removing the assembly so I can get at the actuator?

Does anyone have any of the motors with the brass color? I bought one off of ebay without the collar. Unfortunately, the ebay motor's shaft is a smaller diameter than the original and therefore the brass collar is too big. :bang::bang:

Post #80 has a link to pictures of the process

Thanks, I missed that post. I figured it out earlier today. Unfortunately, the motor I bought from ebay didn't work. I appreciate you taking the time to post pictures.

"Extra" Bolt

I did this fix today for my front driver side door lock..well almost.

I have one "extra" bolt now.

I know which hole it goes in, but can not remember what the bolt attaches to on the inside of the door cavity. The bolt needs to secure to something behind the sheet metal, but there is no metal or assembly component to attach to.

See the attached picture from LandCruisePhil's picture catalog, I put a red arrow to the bolt in question.

Other than that, everything is working right now. Thanks socalsuv for the great thread!

02cruzer, I believe the window track bolt is lower, see picture attached.

Window track bolt is next to the yellow arrow.
The bolt I can't figure out is next to the red arrow.

I could be wrong but I believe the yellow arrow is for the window regulator and does not need to be removed to fix the actuator. The red arrow is for the guide the goes on the side of the window when it is lowered. Good luck!
