Is the metal of this inner door skin thick enough to cut and weld in the door limiter? It's the SOR door stop limiter repair bracket. 124-14-BRKT

Any special instructions on welding it in?

If you have welded sheet metal before, this should be easy. But, you need a wire feed welder (preferably gas shielded) and some experience. If this is your first welding project, experiment on something else of a similar gauge first.

Thanks you for your reply.

My uncle owns a body shop, I was going to bring it to him. Just wanted to make sure it was straight forward.

So far so good. They are working on sanding it down and color matchin.

Finished up! Paint they used was about a shade or two lighter than factory as you can see against the door/doorjamb. Overall they did a good job and they've documented the coloring for future projects.

My doors look very similar to your before pic (same color too!). This project is on my winter list.
Looks good.

On one of my old rigs I screwed an up right flat hook to the door. In the slot on the piller I fished a flat strap sewn nylon loop threw, secured on the back side by a bolt threw a fitted loop. To limit door travel I put the nylon strap loop over the hook on the door.

That should work. Use nut zerks or rivnuts in the sheet metal. On mine the hook was more of a taller rod. 1/2" flat strap nylon strap. I hand sewed the loops for the hook and retaining bolt. The nice feature is you can flip the nylon loop out of the hook and fully open the door. You might want drill/tap near the top of that hook for a screw to keep the loop trapped. I would also bend the hook more vertical.

Happy New Year to and all!

Thank you much Sir. Happy New year to you.

Reviving this thread. Has anyone tried anything different? Any other options? I’m missing the limiter brackets on both sides, so my doors always fly open.
I added some metal where it tore out and then welded on two flat washers I had shaped. EZ PZ

When the PO of the Karma Cruiser got it, it had a piece of a leather belt maybe 5” long screwed to the A pillar and the door with sheetmetal screws. I made his replacement limiter brackets from THREE washers, one to weld into the door, and the to parallel for the pin. That was 1993. They are still working fine for me in 2025.😉
