Our baby girl turns 8 on Monday. She’s still as sassy as ever.

I should have posted these years ago, but better late than never.

Our sweet black lab "Zoey" and handsome Doberman "Schultz" were an amazing duo.

They went everywhere with us, and we went everywhere in the Land Crusier. 80 series sliding windows were made for dogs, and I wouldn't trust anyone who said otherwise.

Camping, hiking, biking, the beach, road trips to the Sierras, they were ready for any adventure. We spent our time left together in the sprinter world, but looking back, these days in the Land Cruiser really were the best days.

My little guy is in bad shape. He is taking the surgery badly.

He won’t move, I have to carry him. He is hardly eating or drinking. His wound is nasty and seeping a lot. He is hardly sleeping at all. Peeing on himself in his bed. Hasn’t gone poo since last Wednesday. Freaking out regularly trying to get at the wound.

Had to go back to the vet yesterday morning for some doggie downers and antibiotics. It’s not helping much. I have had a bunch of dogs spayed/neutered in the past but this guy is taking it the worst by far.

☹️😢

Cheers

His wound is better but he has completely shut down mentally.

He won’t leave his bed, found him this morning laying in his own urine. He is having spaz sessions where he will flail all over the place nearly hurting himself, almost like a seizure. He has got to wear the cone when I am not by his side or he won’t leave the wound alone. The “ballon” collar doesn’t stop him getting at the wound, it’s more just a reminder. He still hasn’t pooped since last Wednesday. Tried to walk him multiple times and it’s not happening at all.

He has to go to the vet again in an hour, not sure there is much they can do but going to try.

I know he will recover from the surgery but I am worried this is breaking his spirit and he won’t be the same dog again. Like I say he has completely shut down mentally.

Had I known this would played out this way I would not have gotten him nurtured. I was just getting real tired of the male dog piss every two feet on a walk and other male dog things when they are not neutered.

Cheers

Hoping your pup gets better soon! Lots of love and positive reinforcement will hopefully help him get back to normal.

Hoping he snaps out of the funk and gets back to normal. Something certainly isn't right with his system if he hasn't pooped for that long.

Ya it’s got me worried. I have had surgery and if you don’t take a laxative right after the meds will make you constipated.

Got doggie laxative at the vet today. Going to see if this will make him go.

His wound is looking great but he is mentally exhausted and in a bad state in his head.

Cheers
