Ah gotcha, my bad, I only noticed him talking about going to 285/70 for the lower offset wheels. However, that LC I posted is running 285/75, so I still think it’s possible. Sorry if I came off defensive, I just feel it’s worth supporting and considering other options than what this forum normally suggests (Rock Warriors or other very conservative offset wheels). When I put on the 17x8.5+0 wheels I would in fact be going with 285/70.
No, not defensive at all.
I run 285/75 tires on rock warriors because they are light and I got the set off of craigslist for $400, otherwise I would probably run the evo course wheels.
I added 1.25" spacers and rub like crazy in reverse, due to the 34" tires and +18ish of offset. I prefer the extra width in the way it drives (and looks) to the +50 offset of the rock warriors alone.
One day I will get around to cutting and heating. I figured that I would let it show me where I need to cut/heat so I can remedy in one try.

Nice. I don't mind trimming at all and with the new bumper and SPC UCA I will likely align away any other rubbing issues - we'll see if I need to relo the bar. That said, I do want to retain up travel under extreme flex so I'm expecting to roll the fenders a little.

@weaselox runs a -5 offset on 285/70, I'm curious if he's able to tuck.

That will look great, pls post pics when you do!

The BFG KM3s naturally run a tad bit smaller than other brands at the larger sizes. That being said, I had only a very minor rubbing issue at full lock. To remedy that, we hear gunned and shaped the inner fender plastic at the bottom rear of the wells. It was amazing that only maybe a 1/4 inch of shaping it back helped so much.

Nice, any fender contact in the rear under flex? Still tuck under?

this thread is a secret meeting of low offset 200's hiding from the Rock Warrior crowd

can't wait to see how those Methods look mounted up @kromealt , do you know when you'll be mounted? take some good pictures of the poke past the fender and stance from the front and back if you can. I'll be mounting mine (also Method's) on stock suspension+the OEM spacers up front, so I'm probably going to really have to manhandle that fender liner.

Toyo MT 285/75r17 vs Falken Wildpeak 285/75r17...wheels expected Saturday, hope to mount then

Congrats on the new rig! I love the color combo, we are big fans of the terra interior. We currently have a 2019 LX 570 for the misses and I am driving our 2018 TRD Pro 4Runner but the more time I spend in the 4Runner, the more I want a 2016+ 200 series for myself (Land Cruiser this time around). I had a 1st Gen Raptor and my father has a 2nd Gen (2017) and while he hasn't had any issues with his, he echoes your concerns with the motor and is looking to move on himself. I agree that they are fantastic trucks and a lot of fun to drive, but nothing compares to the reliability and fit and finish of the Land Cruiser.

The more I stare at these 2016+ 200 series builds the more I think I need to stop sinking money into mine and trade the 4Runner in on a lightly used 2016+ Land Cruiser for myself. Will the madness never end?

True, but down sizing will help a decent amount, and hitting that fender liner with a heat gun and unbolting it with the 4Runner method, and then pushing it out wherever it rubs should easily fix any rubbing. I do concede that unfortunately some downsides are unavoidable, such as any serious up travel being lost (no tucking past +20mm really). Method does however make a wheel in the same design with a +25 offset instead called the 313.

Here’s an LC on 17x8.5+0 Method NV with 285/75R17 Open Country’s and an Icon Lift:

Some people would rather fit the tire and others would rather fit the wheel, I guess myself (I have some 17x8.5+0 wheels on the way) and OP fall into the latter category.
@tjmax, where did you pull this picture from? I gather that it’s not your rig, correct? Im curious to see a side profile of it.

It was on sale in Fort Worth, TX a week or two ago! Awesome deal for whoever snagged it. IIRC it was a 39k miles 2016 black/terra for $62k.

Yep, I loved that I finally found someone running a very aggressive setup so I snagged the pictures off the site. Here you go:

Sorry for the pic dump in your thread @kromealt , but I feel like it's a helpful reference for the kind of aggressive setups our LC's are capable of with some modification. Note that he has taken off his front mud flaps and the little rectangle tab at the front of the liner. Again, it's 17x8.5+0 Method NV's on 285/75R17 Toyo Open Country's with an Icon lift. This is what motivated me to finally pull the trigger on some 17x8.5+0 on 285/70.

Huge thanks for the pics! I’m looking to do something similar without a lift (275/70/17). Narrowed down wheel choices between Method NV, Method 313, or Evo Corse DakarZeros. Have yet to see 313’s on a LC.

Solid info, thank you for the pics! My research has lead me to the same conclusion that you stated...3” lift and 285/75/17 should work with the flaps and tab removed. Curious to know though how close the tire is to the kdss?

More so than just a lift, for 285/75, it’s more important to have adjustable UCA’s and also be comfortable trimming, unbolting, or heatgunning the fender liner. Being able to adjust the caster helps you position the wheel better in the wheel well - the way our suspension geometry is set up, the whole alignment process with adjustable UCA’s has more effect on rubbing than a lift (as it rubs on the front and rear of the front fender liners, not really the top of it). The lower offset might actually pull it away from the KDSS bar, so who knows.

Since I know of guys running setups like 285/65R18 on 18x9+25 or 285/70R17 on 17x8.5+25 on stock suspension with no rubbing, I felt a bit confident that I could take care of the rubbing of the extra 18-25mm of poke on 17x8.5+0 on 285/70R17 when turning. 285/75R17 on the other hand, I believe is a slightly more drastic jump, so be a bit more cautious with low offset and consider adjustable UCA’s.

Yes forgot to mention the UCA in my post <face palm>

I also read about those same stats in your second paragraph not rubbing

Excited to see the setup and feedback!
