what a great looking pup! I have always wanted a doberman. Enjoy him while he's a pup because they grow up quick.

So far he seems fearless. Not scared of the bigger two dogs. It may be his puppyness. He seems very alert. I hope he's a smart one.

i'm sure he is.

they are at least as smart as a border collie, but with a little more attitude. (German tax collectors liked them this way) ;)

soon he will out think your other dogs and then he will become the alpha...

Who would crop a dog's ears aside from some dog show fawk? I may have just answered my own question. Nice looking pup, dood.

I have read where one possible reason is to keep it from getting mangled in a fight. As I have already seen, my parents shepherd goes straight for the ears, so there may be some logic there.

Love the shot where he's under the black dog licking it's mouth!

My 3yo boy recently told an experienced doberman owner (16+yrs) to stay off his porch when she came by un-expectedly to pick up her 4yo shutzhund trained dobergirl. I was (quietly) laffing my ass off. That's why you call first before you come over!

Ears: boy n his brother play pretty rough, nobody gets hurt. Sometimes my boy has to assert his alpha authority over bro, usually ends quickly. Yesterday lil bro sniped back cuz his ear got hurt... on the forward edge that wouldn't've been cropped anyway.

Karma: my boyo moved in as a pup his ear got nipped on 2 parts of the ear that would've been cropped.

Luv on yr pup n take lotsa pix...
