Does anyone know the size of the return line fitting coming out of the power steering box on an '83 toyota 4x4? i have tried to order onr from toyota and haven't had any luck. I know it is not a 16mm x 1.5, since that is what I already tried. Anyone?? Shown here circled in yellow.

I assume your intent is to flare on a new fitting to the new tube. Best bet? Go to a boneyard and salvage one.

-or- if you have the original line, and need a replacement, you can take the original to a shop that does hydraulic line work and have one customer made (check out places that work on back-hoes and similar heavy equipment)

$ 1,000,000.00 question

I have searched all over the web, even paid a "toyota tech" $6, to answer a question. This question even baffels the guys at 3 local toyota dealerships. It has the guys on Marlin's site scratching their heads. What is the question you ask? No it not the meaning of life. It is.........................

I know it's not NPT, it's a flared fitting. My suggestion would be to take it to a place that makes hydraulic hoses, we have lots of places like that around here for outfitting snowplows. See what they can find.

I went out and looked. My caliper says 16mm, and a visual says 1.75 pitch, but I didn't pull my hose to make sure.

And dude, there is no need to yell at us. Your question is very unusual. The box is on your bench. Measure it.

I apologize, and i greatly appreciate your input, really I do. I never meant to offend anyone.

Here is a very simple way to get that fitting.

The FJ 40 guys use mini PS pumps all the time to do conversions. As a matter of fact, I did one on my last 40 restore several years ago.

You can either dig through my old posts (I asked the same question) or just post the question on the 40 board. You will get an answer in a matter of hours.

I am not sure why it is such a 1m question. I took my fitting to a hydraulic shop and they custom made a hose for me that matched up to a fj40 PS pump/min PS gear box.

I see you have a 40 in your sig line. Is this what you are doing?
