That's a beefy extrusion!

Yeah, they're pretty stout! They would weigh about 7lbs per bar, so with 7 of them that would be 49lbs just on the load supports. I can get the single t slot extrusion but I'm thinking it would be nice to have the wider ones if you had to get up there. I was holding it up on mine today and I don't think the rack will need to be any taller than the stock rack.

Those would be the cross bars. The side rails will be laser cut from 1/4" aluminum to fit the contour of the roof. It will be a completely modular system, the side rails, the faring and the load supports. The extrusions are kind of expensive but you could choose how many you want. Say, if you wanted to have a roof top tent, you would only need 2 cross bars for where the tent will be and you could put 3 or 4 in front of the tent.

So I talked with the shop about powder coating. He said he sand blasts and dips all bumpers before coating. The cost will be $150-$200 depending on color. If any of you want me to have the bumper coated pm me what color. You can go to the web site and pick a color. It's, prismaticpowders.com

For the crossbars, since it is a modular system, does that mean you can adjust the position of the cross bars as needed, perhaps the number too. It would be awesome to have the option for tubular crossbars that would take my Yakima gear.

Yeah, you could run 2 cross bars or 10 if you wanted. I'm not sure if I will be offering the round tube but I'm sure I could make a few

Yes I have someone lined up for a test fit and to build a grill guard for an lx, I'm just waiting on parts to be cut and bent.

After much though I think I have decided to make the it a modular bumper. It will make shipping, powder coating and install easier. Also I plan to eventually offer tube wings. The only difference look wise will be all bumpers will need the 2 center top plates. These will cover the seam on the top and work as a gusset to tie the wings to the center section.

Let me know what you guys think. It's a little more work on my end but I think it will be worth it! Again sorry this is taking longer than I first expected but I am confident you guys will be very impressed with the end result! As soon as I have a set time of production I will let you know. I'm still hopping for end of March but it is out of my hands till I get all the parts in my shop.

There are several factors for this decision.

Better access for coating all the parts.

Easily replace or re coat any parts that may get damaged or scratched.

Versatility, to eventually offer different wing options

Cheaper shipping

Easy one man installation

What is it you are not a fan of? Your bumper would look no different if it were modular or welded. Strength should not be an issue but I will be testing that. All that being said, if you still are not a fan I can just as easily weld it all together.

Also I forgot to tell you guys, I shrank the winch access holes some to allow room for a license plate if needed.

Looks great Benc. I'm a fan of the modular design which no one else has offered for 100 bumpers yet. I replaced my front bumper long ago but it's very tempting to sell mine and order one of yours. In any event - well done and all your work look great. The 100 Series aftermarket has really grown since I bought mine nearly 10 years ago! Nice to see new design approaches like you are offering. Keep up the good work.

How are you going to attach the stinger? Another bolt on plate? Bolt to those two gussets?

Can you shine some light on how the 3 pieces will bolt together?

I really like the looks of this bumper and even though I have an ARB sahara have been following this thread, because if I find a grand stashed under the couch I'll happily sell my ARB and buy one of these!

That said, I'd be concerned about the strength of the modular design. The corners of my ARB have rubbed up hard against their fare share of trees, and have taken a few decent hits to trees falling down off a rock or ledge into a tree. I'd be worried that making the bumper modular would reduce the strength?

I like the modular idea. I've always been jealous of the options the Jeep guys get for bumpers. I'm sure it was mentioned before, but what is the target price for bumper?
