Really excited to watch this progress!

So, I was looking underneath the cruiser last week and was pleasantly surprised to see steel drive shafts but unpleasantly surprised to see the size of the universal joints! They look tiny! Hard to tell from this photo but look at size comparison to the flange. I’ll have to measure the cap size compared to other Land Cruisers, I suppose if the cap size is the same the stubby joints could be just as strong or stronger 🤞

They're only tiny if they break. Does it look like they're serviceable? On the 2021 Ram they're disposable, no zerks.

We do. I’m doubtful many will want to modify in the way we are doing ours but I’m sure many will love to watch 😂. We will be doing a Les aggressive armor line for the masses that will require much less cutting.
Well, I’d build one just like this. It’s just a frame and body. 🤷‍♂️

Lame question, I know, but do you know the overall height measurement with the tires and the rack?

Looks like tires will rub
Dissent posted that they tested the tires at full stuff/full lock without rubbing.

Looks great. I imagine that's pretty close to how the designers really envisioned it before adjusting it for production highway touring tires and epa testing. How do you feel the gearing/power is with the larger tires? Does it feel like it needs a re-gear?
Honestly hardly noticeable. I was pleasantly surprised!

No turning back now! Lots of cutting today to fit the 38s! Actually a whole lot less cutting would have been needed but I have a certain look I’m going for and all that sheet metal and plastic had to go! I do wish that radiator and condenser didn’t hang so low

More body work today! The rear is much more involved to clearance cleanly. Since I removed the entire over fender trim piece when I cut the front I had to get creative in the rear. I could only cut about 3/4” out before getting into the door seal but wanted the rear to match the front as best as possible. I cut into the wheel arch and the door, re welded the seam and then completely flushed out where the trim used to be with sheet metal. A skim coat of body filler, some urethane seam sealer and some sanding it will be ready for paint.
I will have to build some custom wheel liners front and rear but in the end I should be able to fit these 38s with zero rub and no travel limiting.

Also completely cut out the rear of the frame as there is no possibility of getting the look and clearance I want without doing so. We will be offering a less aggressive dual swing bumper for the masses in the future.

Sheer lunacy! I love it!

I don’t really love the look of the roof rack, but I know you build them very well, and they are functional. They just aren’t my thing.

😂 that it is! Can’t let frame and body panels get in the way of my vision for this build. All the guys in my shop think I’m crazy as well 🤣.

I am certainly bummed how difficult Toyota made these for a good looking after market set of bumpers! They gave us good provisions for rack and sliders but it is clear that replacing the bumpers was not a consideration when they were designing.
