Shipping is cheaper when they come in the same pallet! at least that is what he told me. I really don't think it will be far behind. The problem with the pandemic is everyone had projects that were waiting for time, or they wanted to go adventure or both and people that do work like Ben are getting slammed.

LoL, I thought your name looked familiar. Didn’t think I would get another, but here I am. Back in the 80 section. Ready to buy another?
Ha! One is all I can afford that's for sure...I gotta build thread finally started... I named my cruiser NOLA. I see that you sold the truck but kept the avatar pic 😉

Yep I agree shipping is certainly cheaper that way...my hope is that the group of guys I tagged would want one now...they all live within 50 miles of me so we could share shipping costs.

You nailed it, its the perfect storm for offroad equipment...it was tough even getting knuckle rebuild kits.

I'd be in for a group buy. Depending on the timeliness though I may not be in Washington though. Looking to be moving to the Sacramento or San Diego area soon. I'm hoping to get the front and rear bumper at once but would be happy with the front to start.

Great! That's 2 and if we can get @ZMaster @Wompom and @Dissent all in we got enough for a group buy.

Also please note that this can be for anyone living anywhere. I just tagged these guys because we all live close to one another and could split shipping costs.

Let's get another 3 on this group buy! And @jwbc84 I hear you, I'd like the rear at the same time. But with the overall demand for Ben's products and the price of steel going up I think better sooner than later.

Talked to Ben today about the rear bumper design. After speaking with multiple interested customers, departure angle will be Ben’s design focus.

After removing the stock rear bumper, he found that the frame has a pronounced hump. To build around and over this, it would require a bulky design. Even more bulky than the 100, which would be significant. To maintain a slim, light weight design that includes a receiver hitch, the rear crossmember will be need to be cut. I had hoped to avoid this, but it’s unavoidable.

Ben was hoping to use the 100 design as a template, but that is now out of the question. He has a CAD/CAM scanner that can capture the 80!series frame and load it into software making it pretty quick and flexible to design.

He will send drawings with options soon. One design feature I’m considering is rear quarter panel protection. The question is how long and tall to make it. Does anyone else want this feature on their bumper? Please give your input for design options. Pictures of trucks you’ve seen that include what you like would be helpful.

Personally I think the crossmember is too far back anyway and in an impact it would bend the frame rails inward. I don't mind cutting it. a new one can be made/bolted in further back since i won't have a tire under there anyway. Most people are planning to put tanks of some sort back under-there anyway. As far as quarter panel protection I am not artistic or experienced enough to know what i want until I see it. He is good at design so I think he will likely make something pretty clean either way.

Keeping the crossmember would be nice but I wouldn't want to see Ben compromise his design intent to work around it. Sleek and light is what I want. I've been staring at the 100 design at the corners and am wondering what Ben will come up with. I plan to keep my fender flairs on and hope the bumper tucks under them and slightly wider. Maybe a 1/4" proud of the flair. The tricky part then would be how to taper it back enough so it make it look like a big butt! Some slight rise for quarter panel protection would be nice also but hard to tell how high.

@Road Apple do you have a 1" body lift on your Cruiser?

Yes...1” 4Crawler body lift.
Ah thought so. It's really hard to tell unless you look for the signs (small gap between body and top of bumper. I have a 1" body lift and ARB and prefer the look.

I don't plan to run a body lift. I wonder how Ben could accommodate the variation into the design of the bumper.

Ben’s design is based on a truck without a body lift. When the front bumper was made, the plan was to run 35’s and I didn’t have the body lift. While waiting months for parts I decided to go with 37’s and add a body lift. That’s why I have a small gap between the bumper and flares.

Unless the body lift is extreme things usually look fine. I've seen several trucks with body lifts and the bumpers still look fine. Even with stock bumpers. Only someone who knows what it should look like knows there is a body lift and still looks fine.

One of the reasons i was holding out for this was not having to cut the cross member so thats disappointing.
Still excited to see what he comes up with, but it may push me to a DVS.
