My 77 bib was in bad shape and I found a good used one from an unknown year. Everything appears identical except the new bib does not have the mount for the hood latch. I have removed the hood latch mount from the old bib and plan on tacking it to the new bib. All other holes and slots appear to line up.

Does anyone know of any other differences I might run into?

Not really, they're pretty straight forward.

1957 - 1960: FJ25.
1960 - 1968: Early FJ4x with parking lights in bib and round bezel.
1969 - 1979: Later FJ4x without parking lights in bib and round bezel [and hood latch appearing at some stage]
1980 - 1984: Latest FJ4x with square bezel and hood latch.

Fixed it for ya @cult45 :)

E - 1960: FJ25 Chrome bars with bib lights

1960 - 1969: Early FJ4x with parking lights in bib and round bezel.

1970 - 10/73: Later FJ4x without parking lights in bib and round bezel.

11/73 - 1978 no bib lights round bezel and under hood safety latch.

1979 - 1984: Latest FJ4x with square bezel and under hood safety latch.

Thats an interesting timeline on the bezel types. My first cruiser, the 10/73, came to me in 1987 with a bib that has the holes for bib lights but did not have the lights installed. The back side was matching cygnus white to the rest of the original paint and the front side was painted navy blue like the rest of the exterior of the tub (just like the old postal jeeps). I always figured it was just left over parts being used by Toyota since it also still had F.5 and 3 speed trans not a 4 speed like I was led to believe started in 10/73. Who knows... I believe I'm owner #3 and I met owner #1 on the side of the road years ago (July 4, 1987) who had painted it that navy and mounted the antenna ball on the back.

Mine is also a 74' with the bib lights... I changed it over to a 64' bib because mine got crushed and a friend had it ... Same color as the one I took off even ... Black ... Not stock color of cause ... But coincidence... And I resprayed it black again as that's what I like :)

@tlc762 somebody changed it... Because they needed to ... Or ... Liked the look ... Or both ... Like me :)

Not sure we got any in the US but some of the last bibs have a cable release. More then just LX models. Pulled parts off a 84 HJ47 RHD. Manual steering, no A/C and four speed. So wasn't loaded. Had the tach in the dash but not sure if that wasn't standard on the 2H.

@JohnnyC to the rescue! I knew if I built the foundations then the knowledge would soon arrive ;)
