Ideally you want a 1HZ family - 1HZ, 1HDT, 1HDFT or 1HDFTE with a H151/2 tranny. They are direct bolt and almost no mods are required on the frame.

i will look into this as my lx450 is a 97 . And have lots of stuff sitting in my yard . These 80 s are the best of everything . and the fj60 with the 6 in it . The rad support and inner fenders are going on my baby a 1982 fj60 4B ...... i also have a 1995 80 full lockers for parts as maybe trans. and selling the fj 60s and a 6 gas engine with ntranny and case

Update on diesel-swapped FJ80- runs very well, gets 20-21 mpg on 40 cetane fuel. We HAVE had a problem with inconsistent starting- sometimes it cranks immediately, sometimes it just clicks and won't crank. It didn't do this when it was still with Dave, the problem occurred afterwards, and we are still sorting that out. But overall it runs great, smooth, quiet, lots of torque, and now my only LC since my green one went to a new owner. Cheers, all.

This is a normal problem, I had this issue too, so you need to add a relay on the starter, tomorrow I will get the model for it, and the wiring it is amazing how it changes the starting

FYI if your running 343 auto I had the same experience, new starter, checked ignition switch, wiring, grounds got better for awhile. I just finished installing my Wits-End Turbo went to start for 1rst time........ nothing. My last resort was Neutral Safety switch, this is what I found. Needless to say found used plug ( Thx @slow95z ) and new NSS all good now.

Well, I guess I am comfortable to post mine now after semi-finishing the project.

1. Year and model of the original truck... 1993. Originally purchase 1998 as a family car. Was parked for 4 years - kids left the house. :(
2. Brief details of the Drivetrain that was swapped in.... 1HDFT/H151. Drivetrain work was done by Vally Hybrids in Stockton. Georg and Dom are my heroes!
3. What went really well with the swap?... Since it is an original engine for this vehicle, there were no complications. Blogs on this site helped a lot!
4. What was unexpectedly difficult with the swap?... Nothing specific.
5. Mods...aside from drivetrain, if any? Building a full camper, so the back will be a couch + fully functional kitchen. Hot water with circulating pump.
6. Driving impressions after the swap...including drivability in daily driving (if applicable), highway travel, and, of course, off pavement... Drove this weekend 2000 miles to Arizona and back including 4 wheeling. No issues at all.
7. Realistic fuel consumption after the swap...lol. :D... Got 23 mpg on this trip at 70 mph and also some 4 wheeling.
8. Five star rating for overall difficulty of the swap: *=relatively easy, *****=don't even attempt it unless you have some real good friends who are really handy... Probably ***. Blogs helped very much.
9. 2 to 3 pictures of your rig.
10. A link to your own build thread with all the juicy details and pictures.
Big Red

Set up an appointment in a DMV in a rural area. Stockton, Manteca, Yrika, and tell them you are doing a fuel swap. Make sure that you have a gray diesel gas cap, a diesel sticker on the gas door, and that the CHP sticker on the drivers door is visible. Should take 10 minutes.

What is everyone using on the 6bt cummins swap for a throttle cable

Ok so finally got to post here as it's in and never cummin out, however I really need help with wiring the starter as I really suck at electrical . So what has been done, Cummins 12v out of a 96 dodge 2500 eaton fuller FSO8406 6 speed standard transmission np203/205 doubler topped off with compound turbos and a air to water intercooler. Any help on the starter would be greatly appreciated.

Did you delete the ABS? If so, you can use the relay of the ABS to run the starter.

I have a 1HDFT on mine and the IP needs power from the switch. Don't know how is the cummins. The igniter needs to be deleted and the wire that powers it go to power the IP. The connector is EA2 (pin 7) wire is green and black. You can also pick the green and black wire on the igniter. Both coil and igniter - delete!

The Cummings has a mechanical injection pump, but I will delete the igniter thanks

So instead of the igniter you connect the Solenoid of the IP. 🙂

The only peace on the injection pump of a Cummings that is electrical as the fuel shut off solenoid is that what you're referring to

Yes! Instead of providing 12V to the igniter (when you turn the key on), you are providing it to the solenoid, so the IP opens up and can suck fuel.

I think you mean Cummins , no G in it like no Gas :flush:

Autocorrect strikes again
