I own a fj-55 but i have noticed that the fj-55s are not selling. I know of 2 right now, besides mine, that I think are GOOD deals that haven't really gotten more than a nibble or two. I am fairly new to LCs, is the 55 in low demand always or is it just right now. I have a 55 I have for sale that I consider fixing up into a running driving beast to sell. If the demand doesn't go back up in value I think I would just as well off taking the money and vehicle and burning it. Any old times have any perspective on the issue?

Rust issues.

I think the general public(ie non cruiserheads) for the most part shun the 55, for whatever reason. Most 55s have bad rust issues and parts are hard to find. I true rust free fj55 will sell and often for good money(ie 10K+) 78-79 best years, unlike a fj40 where there are lots of 78-9 40's there were very few 78-9 55's sold in the US......and out of those maybe a handfull are rust free.

I think in short, rot and alot people just don't like them.

me I LOVE the 55, but I have yet to find a rust free one for myself, I would take any year if stock(ish)and rot free, find me a 79 with PS and AC thats rust free and I'll prolly buy it :)

I got 17K for my FJ55 :D Sold it to a guy 3 weeks ago who wanted a vintage cruiser for the wife. Its a niche market but if you have a rust free 55 than there are plenty of people interested. Just my experience. Seems its a buyer market for cruisers in general right now. I just bought one :D

thats what I'm looking for also LOL

I remember that one. All white, IIRC. Looked good, but I think it still had rot you could see in the pics. Not as bad as most, but you'd definitely be dealing with it eventually.

Yes Colbys truck is nice and does look as if it has some lower rust coming through the paint on the lower rockers.

We will see how nice the rig I am looking at purchasing when I fly down, looks like original paint with some rust on the lower front fenders and the rest just surface.

I think there is still a deman just nothing compared too 40s or 45s.

Post up some pics and your price.....

There will always be a demand for good, clean, original landcruisers, FJ 55's included. They do have their disadvantages, tops don't come off, many unobtainable parts if I am not mistaken and some engineering issues. I know of one that just sold for $10k, the guy had it paint an emerald and silver two tone with the surf-safari look, some guy pitched him an offer at his yard sale.
I think the money is in good clean rigs that people don't have to mess with and can have something that is rare.

Mine is already in the for sale section. It the fj55 in eastern oregon 500 OBO/Trade It is just the body I have a 2f drive train but I feel if I put it all together I wouldn't make a nickel more than if I keep the 2f for my 55 and sell the pig carcass. I sad 500 jsut to have a number I am really flexible. I am really open to all offers. I would probably jsut as soon love a disk brake front axle or a mopar 318 or maybe a sm420 and 3spd TC adapter or air compressor or ..............
