Progress update:
Spent Sunday cutting down the bed. I cut the rear frame horns off with a cordless sawsall. I cut the tailgate portion off first, with approximately 5 inches of the bed attached. Then I took out 13 inches of bed and sides. I went with 13, because I intend to be closer to 14 when it's all said and done, but wanted to leave a little extra for grinding and fitting. I put tie straps on it and it actually fits pretty good!
For cutting, I used the cordless sawsall and a dremel with cutoff wheels. While the dremel was slower and went thru a disc about every 3", the cuts were much cleaner and precise. If I was ever going to do this again, I believe I would try a 7 1/4" cutoff wheel in my skilsaw.
Edit: No pics........the wife took my camera for the day. I'll snap some tonight.
