I'm thinking of just driving up 165 from Placitas, if it's open. This would be a solo type thing but last time I did it in the snow I got a lill stuck and came back down. Anyway, would anyone (with chains at least) want to take a lazy Saturday drive up?

I just downloaded the f***Inc signed order from sandia ranger district. I 'm pretty pissed and confused; they spend millions on a new driveway into cauplin, then freakin close it due to lack of labor funding.

Now I contemplating Cedro, Jemesz, or even the Puerco. (Admittedly as many times as I've been out there, I'm still not even oriented to the darn thing) anyway, if anyone wants to go out this weekend lemme know. (Just taking my bone stock Tacoma, and I drive slow).

just fill your bone stock taco with about 400 pounds of dead weight and you'll be golden. On the other hand, if you want to hang out in my heated garage while I take the Tcase apart, again, come on over. I wouldn't mind an extra pair of hands for the installation process. We're both scrawny dudes so we should fit under the 80 nicely!

OK, why are you taking the transfer case a part again? Is this another 80's thing?

Well, it started out as replacing the engine rear main seal. The tranny and Tcase got dropped. So, I figured while I'm in there, might as well take the Tcase apart and install a set of 3:1 Marks low crawl gears in there. All seals and few bearings were replaced.

I get it all buttoned up and then noticed that I've misplaced the ball detent for the shifter rod (H N L) :bang: I think it might be rolling around in there some where

The transmission is installed and buttoned up. The Tcase starts tonight or tomorrow.

Now that is cool schit. 3:1 in an 80? Good luck with the dent ball. Sounds like something I would do.

5.29's and low gears in the xfer is going to make the 80 a good crawling rig indeed.

Almost makes me want an 80.

Took the Tcase apart this morning, no floating ball anywhere. Whew!

I was going to say, when that kinda thing happens to me, I'd open it find nothing then see the ball where it rolled under the work bench.

Wonder if it's the same as a dent ball in a R150F? I might have one in a jar someplace.

Or if it's the same as a TC ball in my 4Runner? I know I have one of those you could "borrow" to get the truck running.

Thanks Pappy but I'm good. Grabbed one from the spare Tcase.

Thanks to Ron's help, the T case went in smoothly and quickly.
