Dave made me do it! **UPDATE**

So, i have been following SoCalFJ's regear and knuckle rebuild and finally decided i need to do mine as well. After talking to Eric at YotaMasters it sounded like such a bargain to have them add ARB lockers to the front and rear (joke intended) while they were in there so....... I am doing:

  • Complete knuckle rebuild w/ new Koyo bearings ,Marlin seals and new knuckle studs
  • 4.88's (Is there a better quality/brand name ring and pinion set out there?)
  • ARB lockers front and rear (Ordered them today as the free big compressor and "air up kit" offer ends in a couple of days)
  • Front pads & rotors (no charge for labor since they are already taking them off)
  • Tie rod ends
  • Repack rear bearings
Anything else i should have YotaMasters check/replace while they are in there?

nitro gear from Just Differentials are said to be of good quality.

You should think about getting a solid collar while your getting the gears done.

I had my gears cryo plated for added strength.

Just out of curiosity, how much is all that gonna cost you?

get new birfs, poly pro axles, slee braided lines, new bushings, and slotted rotors and rebuild the calipers.

you wont have to go under there again for a really long time, well, at least until next week, just to admire it all, i mean.

Good job Sean, im glad i could be a bad influence :D

Seriously, you won't be disappointed. Will it be done in time for the M&G?

Just got an email today that the rear locker is on back order from ARB...4-6 weeks!!!!!

So much for the backorder...the UPS guy just dropped of both lockers and compressor from ARB!!! Now just need to order the other big ticket items from Crusier Outfitters.

Ok...The UPS guy has been busy dropping off boxes at my house so now it is off to YotaMasters tomorrow to drop the truck off. She getting the works:

- knuckle rebuild w/ marlin seals and new knuckle studs.
- 4.88's
- ARB lockers front and rear (I took advantage of the ARB sale and scored the free large compressor with "fill up"/hose kit.
- tie rod ends
- new rotors, 100 series pads and caliper rebuild kit
- repack rear bearings

And this all started with me not having the time nor really the :banana:'s to do the front end by myself and it snowballed into all this. Oh well....She should be dialed in now. I should have it back the middle of next week and am looking forward to breaking in the new gears and wiring up the compressor and air lines....

Curious how that shop works out. PM me when it's all done, they aren't too far from me and I'd like to know a good mechanic.

Well - headed out there this Wednesday to see if Jay can solve my mystery random misfire. Not front end work, but based on Dave's experiences, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to go out there for the work described in this thread.

You will probably see my truck there... (Please refain from borrowing parts ;) ). Anyhow, Eric and Jay seemed to be great guys and from what i have experienced, heard and read about their work, they are top notch. I guess i will know a lot more about their work later this week....Crossing my fingers all goes well!

Eric @ YotaMasters met me at 7:30 tonight and i dropped her off. So if all goes well, i should get her back Thursday or so and i can spend some of the weekend routing the air lines and finding a location to mount the compressor. That said, i was thinking about installing the passenger side battery box and mount the compressor there. Any thoughts ? I am running the big Sears Platinum battery and am going down the fold-able solar panel rout to augment power for the fridge and what not, so i will not need the room for a 2nd battery.....

Can I 'borrow' your distributor to swap out mine to see if that's what it is before plunking down $$$ for a new one? :D

I promise I won't do anything but watch. Driving the beast out myself with a lawn chair and lots of water. Justgoing to chill back under the trees at the back of the parking lot and stay out of Jay's way!
